Alien Pearl Mixed with Black Dip

FYI: This video is about the color. Pigment particles may be left after peeling. On your own vehicle be sure to apply a layer of dip before you add your pigments.
I used the GL-47 Alien Pearl, and Full Strength Black Plasti Dip.
When thinning your own Plasti Dip be sure to use 1 gallon of thinner (Xylene, Toluene, or VM&P) for every gallon of un-thinned Plasti Dip you use.
In all my videos I use un-thinned Plasti Dip as an alternative to pre-thinned RDS(Rubber Dip Sprayable). I think the added pigments in RDS are great which is why I add pigments to my own Plasti Dip jobs, but I am able to save about $70 per job by thinning Plasti Dip myself.

See these are questions I like to see answered. Dip pearls in the color coat. Makes for a much darker richer finish. I love that blue. I wish I could get the whole car like that.

i have followed you for some time and find your video entertaining to watch. would it have been better to lay a base of straight black first prior to the pearl infused black dip? the reason i ask this, is that pearl powder itself can cling to surfaces in a very fustrating way; especially if there is no barrier from the factory paint and dip. 2nd, how much of the color shift effect did you loose by doing this? i can kinda still see it, but videos never tell the full color spectrum properly. other then that, looks good and cant wait to see more vids. im sorry if this may come across as negative, but its not meant to be.

Good question. I have been practicing this on my hood with different colors. When I peeled it there were a very small number of particles, but since it is not actually a liquid it did not bond with the paint. But if that is a concern, putting down a layer of black won't hurt at all. The color shift was the same. What changed was the brightness of the actual color.

ive done this method; using a single color pearl into black, but always used a base first. had some instances when the pearl got on something that wasnt masked and it was a pain to clean off.

Can you make it instead of being purple dark black be black dark then purple??? I like this one a lot and reason i ask I have this thing for my car being as dark as possible but color shift to purple as well.

The shifting depends on the pigments themselves. I will look around and see, but currently I do not know if they make that.

That is very easy. Un-thinned dip will say "Rubber Dip" on the can. Sprayable will say "Rubber Dip Sprayable" and Sprayable will be in red letters.

I wish I lived closer to you......I'd buy the materials (and beer) and let you go apeshit and experiment on my car. I've noticed that Fonzie at DYC always uses a gallon of matte and one gallon of glossifier when he does those pearl applications. What do you think it would look like using 100% glossifier? I have 1 video up using just glossifier and another with just matte clear. The glossifier was deffinately shiny.
