my first gaming experience was on my Uncles ZX Spectrum 48k and it was with the amazing Elite by the genius that is David Braben, my most memorable was with FTL's Dungeon Master on the Atari 512 STE, this kind of set the tone for me love of RPG's today

After a good conversion of golden axe, this was a joke. Us gold and tiertex strike again!

Yes, Golden Axe is 1000 times better than this, but at the same time, this is 1000 better than the likes of Renegade, Turtles or Battletoads!

The graphics could've been better, but I think this is a bit of an underrated Amiga conversion.

There are many many arcade conversions worse than this one, that's for sure

Me and my friend played Golden Axe on Amiga to death and we were extatic when we got hold of Alien Storm! But, although characters looked good and gameplay was sort of ok, something was off and we were not enjoying it as Golden Axe. We could not articulate what is wrong at the time, but now I can-Tiertex! Also, lack of in game music hurts the game while makes Golden Axe so memorable together with FX. To be honest, arcade is also less enjoyable than Golden Axe and arcade Alien Storm music was crap! And Amiga version is conversion of Mega Drive version not the arcade. I know that now while I was wondering why stages and some characters on Amiga differ from arcade back in the day!

While the game is definitely better than I remembered it being from the last time I played it, it's still not great. Golden Axe is far far better, ironic really when I used to consider Probe the worst developer around (mainly because of what they did to OutRun) but they have a pretty strong catalogue to their name. Tiertex really struggled on the 16-bit systems but the quality of their 8-bit work was a lot higher.

@@UKGamingNetwork we played it anyway! It was still Alien Storm, sort of okayish arcade conversion on Amiga, kind of "arcade at home"! It seems by the comment section, there were few amigists with fond memmories of this game! Well, amigists were tending to be overly "intelectuated" gamers, more so now as retro ganers than before, and skip on pure Amiga arcade fun (although "arcade fun" skiped Amiga more than one occasion). That false "intelectualism" plagued Amiga action games with complicated move set, inventory, game patterns, puzzles and stuff. That is why Amiga dont have proper original SHMUP and essentialy no arcade SHMUP appart Battle squadron and R type conversions!
