Dude, thank you for this review, I think you did a good job. I grew up playing this game when it was first released and I still play it till this day with my best friend. I own the actual legit Capcom blue USA CPS-2 game board and it was my first purchase from eBay, along with a custom home arcade unit to play it on, almost 20 years ago, lol. I consider this the best of all the Capcom side scroll beat'em ups and I grew up playing them all. I have always considered it a shame that Capcom never released it for a home port. Like you, I hope at some point before I die they do release it for the whole world to enjoy. But until then, I'm fine showing my baby boy the joys of playing this old school classic, the way it was intended.

One of my favorite games. I think a few lines about the lore is missing, or if I missed them please point the time, english is not my first language. You could have said something about the story in-game, who are the characters based on. Alien Warrior and Major Schaffer = "Dutch" (Arnold) from Predator 1. Predator Hunter = Predator 2 Lt. Kurosawa = ??? If I was a Hollywood producer I would adapt this game to film and set it immediately after Alien 4, retconning everything after it, even adding in Cyberdine so "Dutch" can have his awesome prosthetic arm. Something like an egg survives the crash or one of the survivors is infected, then the action seen in the games' intro happen and.... Guaranteed 100 gorillion dollars first week.

In the early 90s India, we universally had arcade units that were modded Nintendo style arcades where a 8 bit console was hooked up to pulpit like wooden box with an embedded lentiform CRT screen. The games never really went past Kung Fu (Spartan in India) and Super Mario Bros. Therefore, we Indian kids missed out an entire genre of 16 bit Nintendo and Capcom releases. Years later , I recently played AVP arcade on am emulator and completely blown away. Wow! What a detailed world and characters! This is peak arcade stuff. So much more immersive than 3d games.

Its not the IP that interests me about the game, so much as it is that qualatative stamp of Capcom that the game exudes. What sets it apart from other games in the genre, is it's combo system along with its move set that teeters on fighting game mechanics that Capcom revolutionized with SF2 and beyond. I love this game and is certainly my favorite beat -em'-up (or brawler as they used to be called).
@goukigod3 жыл бұрын
A deep combo system is critical for a brawler's longevity. Not only does it massively increase the replayability, because there are so many combat possibilities, it also provides a lot of player expression. There are few games of this era, even within Capcom’s own portfolio, that come close to AVP in regards to this.

Hmm, Well, okay... Decent review; I bought the Capcom home arcade and 3 friends who live in the state also have it... but no doubt, it's a little obscure in this day & age of modern gaming. This is easily the most original, beautiful, varied and exceptionally unique BEAT-EM-UP ever made from that period. .. It's a powerLOADER, not powerlifter...(that's a competitive sport). Kurasawa & Ibuki are archetypally & visually very similar; that's objectively obvious... Capcom has at least 100 titles that have sold more than one million units, Capcom stands alone in the video game industry While it's hard to say specifically how many units of the Capcom home arcade sold, undoubtedly, each title appearing on this system would fit into that margin. Financials results for the nine months ended December 31, 2021, net sales were 88,163 million (up 35.9% year-over-year).. Mostly... (Ehhhhh).. nice video. 👌 otherwise...

@@goukigod Thanks for replying. I spent the afternoon watching emulator videos, trying to understand this topic. I realise what I really want is a pre-installed emulator console. Can you recommend one of those?
@goukigod9 ай бұрын
I'm assuming you mean a box that has an emulator already installed on it, or a console that emulates hardware such as the Analogue products? If you're just wanting to play a handful of games that can be an expensive and confusing rabbit hole to go down. A lot of the products you find online are terrible and not worth the money. The MiSTer is probably the best one but it's complex and expensive and probably only worth it if you plan on deep diving the CPS2 games catalogue. I'd look into the RetroArch emulator for PC/Mac. It's fairly straightforward and there are plenty of easy to follow videos on youtube to help you get it set up.
