After Burner was released in the summer of 1987 that's 34 years ago. I was in my local arcade in 1987, they had this reveal party of the Arcade Cabinet. I remember them playing the Top Gun soundtrack (Danger Zone, Mighty Wings) on huge speakers. The reveal was a big deal to me. At that time I was an arcade freak and Sega was my favorite company. Space Harrier and Out Run (both full cabinet versions) were the games that I played most.

I remember playing the G-LOC 360 cabinet. A lot of fun, but it was also super expensive. Something like $2 (or more); a LOT of money for a game back then. When you're a 90s kid with only $10-$20 in your pocket at a pizza parlor or Las Vegas kids area arcade (because the folks just want you out of their hair), that's a huge ask. Especially when the game only lasted, like, 1-2mins, and it took as long to load into the seat. To be failr, though, for the first play or two I was just doing barrel rolls, enjoying the inversion, and not focusing of staying alive in the game. lol

I imagined Climax was delisted due to license expirations for the aircraft from the manufacturers. However the game’s release on mobile makes me wonder. A physical re-release would be awesome. I wonder if DJS will look into Namco’s Air Combat arcade releases, which gave rise to the Ace Combat series.

Awesome Video as usual! Never knew about that 360 arcade machine. Bet that'd either be super fun, or make you super sick lol. I'd love to see a complete history of something like Galaga or Raiden. And if you ever decided to do any RPGs, I'd recommend something like Legend of Dragoon or the two Legend of Legaia games. Something small, as I know you still get people asking for fallout, final fantasy, etc. They seem to forget just how massive those series really are, and how much info you'd have to include. Keep on rockin' DJSlopes!

Top-notch video as always! I definitely agree with you that the aptly-named "After Burner: Climax" title is the best in the series. Please cover the complete history of the amazing "GALAXY FORCE" series. I don't know why that franchise is now so obscure and forgotten. It's such a shame, really. I own the SMS port of the original, the Genesis port of the sequel, and the absolute best version of that sequel's original arcade game on the Nintendo 3DS.
