As a narrative tool, starting out with a 1v1 fight, and announcing that the fight is with “our champion” or some other variant of “damn, now we know how strong they are, if one guy from SEAL team six can take their best. But SEAL team six is so effective because they use stealth, and they use very effective teamwork, and they spend days or weeks planning the op and practicing every step. It isn’t that complicated to have 1000 dudes in fatigues set up behind huge stacks of sand bags. Or send some rangers in behind enemy lines, six months before anything pops off. They hand a bunch of surplus M-16s to the locals, teach them how to compartmentalize their cells, so the enemy suddenly has a coup, and no humans were even there. Allegedly. This “our best against your best” shit… send an average dude in, tell him to lose slowly, so the actual “our best” guy can watch from the back, in stealth mode, and learn their tricks. ‘Cause we’re sending soldiers, they’re sending warriors. Their side will have some kind of “I’d rather fail than cheat” honor code. Running away like cowards is part of the plan. Knights and samurai are cool and all. But if your honor code makes you predictable, you’re gonna lose. Also, the CIA has no assets anywhere nearby. MI-6 might have had conversations with the #3 and #6 warriors. But that was months ago, and they only talked about proper etiquette for when our ambassador gets here. They did not discuss anything else. Honest.
