After almost 3.5 years since first introducing the idea, the Alienation Vice Grip brake is everything I could ever dream of for a BMX brake. There are no compromises or corners cut with this brake. It has everything that I could dream up to make the best brake available and Zach at Alienation made it happen with no hesitation. That bearing is a gimmick. Im a mechanical engineer and i dont believe that sealed bearing is engaging. Its a .004" slip fit on the brake mount shaft and there is no downward pressure through the bolt to engage it. Brake mount shaft length isnt consistent enough to design them to apply force that way. Probably why fly bikes who makes the best brakes didnt bother to do a bearing because they are aware. In this case there was no engineer behind the development just this guy who doesnt understand how the brake works and thought a sealed bearing just sounded better.

Vise-Grip is an Irwin trademark, so using the image of one as well might open them to infringement claims. (Notice how all the ones sold at Harbor Freight are listed as "Locking Pliers") In any case, the tools commonly known as "vice grips" were themselves named that to imply they have the gripping force of a bench vise.
