Aliens Armageddon - Unboxing/Installation

What's your thought process in replacing machines? I'm sure Darius Burst makes less money than Terminator Salvation, even if it's a better game. I suppose you want to keep something for the returning player not just the casual player who visits once.

+ShapeyFiend It generally is a breakdown between earnings and technical problems; I take into consideration a few other factors although they would be considered minor behind those two. One issue with Terminator was the guns increasingly becoming finicky which was helped by a software update oddly enough. Top that off with Aliens being similar enough to Terminator (and flashier), it can't earn worse than TS can. We also have long had people asking for an Aliens game, seems to have more fans for the franchise than Terminator.

This game is at CiCi's and Mr. Gatti's Pizza here in town. It's pretty fun for an arcade shooter, but $1 to play it for how hard it is is quite the wallet-eater, though. It seems a lot of these arcade shooters made in the past few years are harder than they were back in the '90s (since I can beat House of the Dead 1 with at least two credits if not one :P).

+Jdevy At the moment nothing is planned although it is often hard to plan since we don't find out about many games until they are already shipping. I like how MotoGP looks but IAAPA is always full of surprises...and plenty of new decisions.

yes, there is a calibration sequence at the beginning or in the operator menu but it's very fast - just point the gun at the middle of the screen and pull the trigger. The game does the rest (unlike older light-gun games where you had to shoot 2/3 points on the screen first). That's what I did around 2:55 in the video but it was sped up ;)

Ah, I see now. I'm guessing its infrared? I only ever snooped around the older Lightgun CRT arcade machines like House of the Dead 1, so I wanted to learn about the major differences between the two types.

Yep, infrared sensor net that is built into the marquee. If you ever come across one, you'll notice the tinted strips of plexi above and below the marquee. Same system used in Terminator Salvation and Big Buck HD. It usually works pretty well.

How has it been servicing so far? I had a terminator salvation arcade machine's sensor (or it was the rifle, I couldn't tell) completely fail on me once, and I had a Rambo first blood Arcade machine crash during regular gameplay.

Aliens has been running better than Terminator did; I saw the same thing in upgrading from Tokyo Drift to Super Cars. Raw Thrills games aren't maintenance free but they have been getting more reliable over time

Do you guys have a video on installing a Cruis’n Blast machine? I wanna try and convince my brother to install one at the laundromat he works in across the street from where I live. It’s a pretty big one. Honestly, I don’t want to have to go all the way to an arcade or a cineplex just to play the game.

Unfortunately I was unable to capture that as Cruis'n was unexpectedly delivered to me on a Thursday night. That said, it wouldn't have been too interesting as the only thing that needed installation was the marquee - the game comes assembled otherwise. It should just be up to the manager and their budget; Raw Thrills builds them and sells them to distributors who in turn are willing to sell anywhere. There are some products in this industry that have limitations (like dartboards) but video games should be able to go into any place they can fit!

So buy this or terminator salvation or both. My wife loved terminator salvation and raising storm so did I. But this came out more recently, and raising storm is hard to find. Would u recommend this over salvation. I was originally gonna purchase salvation and aliens extermination.

I have owned both and it's hard to go wrong with either one. Aliens is faster paced but a little more scripted; it looks better and has improved guns. Salvation can probably be found for cheap though since there are so many of them out there.

@@arcadeheroes_coinop thank you for the info.It was just as i thought.I want to ask you a few questions as you have more arcade cabinets experience.Lets say for example i have my own rail shooter and i am preparing a cabinet for it for the public.What size tv do you think is the more prefered one? 40,43, 46,55,65? Do you think that 1080p still has future for modern arcades or shoud i invest in to bringing 4k? And lastly, do people like more the standing ones or do they prefer to sit down in a closed one like the dark escape 4d one? Cheers

@@123OGNIAN That depends on the type of venue you want to sell it into. Small arcades and what are called "street locations" (movie theater lobbies, gas stations, restaurants, etc.) generally will prefer something more compact but with an impact, so 42". But if you are aiming at FECs (Dave & Busters, Round 1, etc.), then the bigger, the better (most are 55" or 65", on occasion bigger, but I've found that too big a screen becomes a problem). If the graphics card can handle 4K at 60FPS, then do that, otherwise 1080p should be fine.

Unfortunately I have never owned a Razing Storm so not sure what might be the issue, although my first hunch would be to try and replace the IR sensor in the gun and see if the IR sensors around the monitor are working

+adidas1984x It arrived with a badly damaged monitor and the only way to pull it out was to tear the control panel off (great design Konami!). Turned out that I have to replace the tube and finding a 27" CRT has proven very difficult so far.
