This game had A LOT potential if it weren't for Gearbox reallocating the funds to Borderlands 2 and Duke Nukem Forever. Alien Isolation will forever be the definitive alien game and worthy title in the lore.

I remember buying it, playing it though and then returning it as it really felt like Aliens COD or even an arcade linear shooter that they let you free run. I would recommend Aliens: Dark Descent. It was quite well done except for the almost nonsensical levels of Xenos that appear in some levels especially with the meter that fills as you play a level. My enjoyment was hampered by the fact that there might have been maybe 300 or less people at some of these locations yet my marines have killed 450+, the game was well done, but really needed fine tuning. Colonial Marines really needed more time in development Gearbox redirected a lot of assets to other games and it shows.

Dark Descent was everything Aliens Colonial Marines should have been but in FPS , if they’d mixed those games and inserted the atmosphere of Alien Isolation , it would be a banger hit , look at Starship troopers , insert that sh*t in the Colonial Marines theme and it would outsell … Dark Descent is made with passion , from the dropships to the trackers to the original sounds . It definitely deserves more praise …

What would make colonial marines better is if it played more as a first perons shooter version of dark decent. You can gave a shit ton of weapons but a 3 weapon load out per mission

Started recently playing again , Templar GFX is what saved it for me , ok it really has stupid writing at moments , but his efforts at least enhance the atmosphere and the AI , the aliens are doing what they should do now and that is attacking and evading from every angle

Yeah the Battle Rifle had a weird accuracy bit, I usually used the motion tracking scope on it to scout enemies and the sticky bomb second to lay down traps. As for the smart gun, there is another smart gun that is Vasques's located on a box as you assault the compound and I think a third time you get to use one as you are trying to get on the ship. And yes the base weapons do kinda suck, but if you modify them then they do work better. And the WY mercs make sense to me as this takes place after Alien 3 and it a canonical continuation of that story. And as for bad as Alien Colonial Marines was, lore wise it leads to improvements with Aliens Fireteam Elite and the restrictions of WY.

When I was young this game was perfect because it did something special, that being it was serious and scary enough to be an aliens game with mood but just a little to goofy/buggy that I wasn’t horrified to play it either, such as with isolation which is heart pounding to the max and a lot more intense.

That’s were it went wrong , as an adult I remember the days when the first alien vs predator games came out and I was too shit scared to venture further a certain level , until my friend the next evening sat beside me with same awry feelings , I loved those day … but playing Aliens games on a lesser than nightmare mode was just not done ! 😂 it was an insult to the perfect organism

I'd say if you think A:CM can be enjoyable but is squandered by the shitty AI and campaign, check out the bughunt DLC and combine it with the lurker weld mod, and turn off the music. It replaces all xenos with lurkers, who are the one xeno type in this game that actually had good AI that flanks you. Especially with 1 or 2 people to play with, running around the hadley's hope map trying to do objectives and find a spot safe enough to set up sentry guns and weld doors shut is way closer to the movie experience than anything in the base game, and the lurker AI is smart enough to make the xenos actually threatening Also I think the PMCs could've worked for variety if they didn't use them so much. AvP 2 had human enemies too when you were a marine and that's a fantastic game

Fireteam Elite is surprisingly playable with randoms. Objectives aren’t too difficult or demanding. And there’s a PC mod to make AI smarter if you have a PC. However Colonial Marines is. Oh man. I mean it’s all in my video. However. Some people stand by their opinion that it isn’t all that bad. And it definitely shows that the devs love Aliens. So it may be worth a spin if it’s ever on sale for like $20 or less. Hope you enjoyed the vid. Watch my others. I have another one coming hopefully in the next two weeks or so. I remember when I found out there were fan patches that "FIXED" this game. I got them up and running. Expecting the game to be something like AVP 2010, which is a game I personally adore. So I played through all of ACM and it was fun... until it wasn't...The fun that I had, drained quicker than a water balloon filled with holes. This all happened during the last set of missions. Which just came off as dull to me... although to be honest, I did laugh my way and tease the AI through sections of the game. (Should've recorded it, damnit). Who knew that playing with yourself could be a lifesaver for a misguided game. Heh heh. And the main game's ending! Geez, I could not care at all. Like how can you fail that badly. Ps. ACM was at one point considered Canon to the movies. And then almost immediately had that banner removed :)

I'm not gonna lie i played through the entire game and dlc on ultimate badass mode for the first time and was blessed by the gaming gods to not experience any bugs or glitches 🙏 It's actually really fun without them, I started experiencing them after I started replaying it

This was a really good review, but it also kinda bummed me out. Im a huge Alien, and Sci-Fi in general, fan. I was one of those people who was super d duper pumped for this game and at release, I was even bummed out that the collectors edition wasn't in my budget. I remember it wasn't long after release that it lined the shelves of EB Games and GameStop for $7.99 and that was when i got a copy. I played through it, felt underwhelmed and never went back to it. Ive been considering revisiting it thinking after all this time maybe itd be redeemed. Sad story of a game

I really like this game. Yeah it's not Activision quality but it's 6.8 score to me. I would love if this game get remastered by #Crytek on #Cryengine. Because the ceph aliens in #Crysis was a challenge.

Colonial Marines is probably the most mediocre game I've ever played. I only now last week got around to finishing it for the first time, and I bought the game on the Xbox 360, back in 2014. Though, now I played on PC. The game does have quite an authentic Aliens vibe to it in soundtrack, sound design and art style, I'll give them that, but it's not enough to save it. And those are the only positives that even drove me to finish the game. And good God, those pre-rendered cutscenes are, indeed, AWFUL. They don't even match the in-game models. Those Wey-Yu PMCs can honestly fvck right off. I wanted to fight Xenomorphs, not some incredibly generic PMC grunt fodder. Got really old, really fast. And what can I say about that Raven fight... yeah, it's really bad. The damn power loader just kept spinning around when I tried to punch with it. I was originally using the ACM Overhaul mod, and I had a bug with it - kind of a long story - that made the Raven invincible. I was wondering why I can't kill it. I was playing on the hardest difficulty, so I thought maybe it was just really hard to kill, but after punching it for like 15 minutes, I realized ain't no way. Figured the culprit pretty fast after, uninstalled the mod, and got through the boss. After that I just opted to use the typo fix. Not even Randy Pitchford's magical trickery could've made this game better. What a waste. Game over, man.
