The thing about DNA is that it gives you an extra copy each round - so you could have ended up with about 10 aces by the end of the game.

For the jokers, the joker for "3 of a kind" will proc for hands like "4 of a kind" or "full house". It does only give +10 Mult vs the "4 of a kind" joker giving +20 Mult, but since it applies in so much more hands (including the "4 of a kind" ones), it seems it’s better in most situations.

I slept on DNA in the beginning. But especially in a buffed-Ace based strat it really adds up over the game. As the ace copy is permanently added, it is basically getting an additional ace in your deck every hand. You got it rather late but early it's build-enabling

Honestly, any 3/4/5 of a kind strat that relies on specific cards is really good. Even cards with the +4 multi/even joker, or 8s with the Tarrot card joker, etc. Or even just straight up more consistent 4/5 of a kind strats which are already powerful to begin with. The DNA card is definitely a very strong card in the right situations.

This whole "ignoring money" strat has extra synergy with Dusk, causing each card to be played twice in your last hand of a blind. With a run like this... you can imagine how strong that'd be.

You can do a straight with an Ace 2 3 4 5 so while that joker is weaker, it's not useless. Also the card that added the extra Ace was DNA Joker! You get to keep the card even after the round. The same applies to Arcanas that change cards when you play them mid round.

Yeah, can't believe he didn't realize that there was a reason the card was rare. Taking the downside of playing a single card to duplicate a card seemed pretty obvious from the wording. Although, it also seems that he hasn't realized that the deck doesn't shuffle yet. Will be interesting the first time he tries a deck thinning strategy.

sometimes one can forget that an Ace counts as an 11 and a 1 depending on the situation, its not just a blackjack thing XD (though, if face cards had numbers it would likely be 11, 12, 13, for jack queen king. but since they all count as 10, ace is technically 11)

Unfortunately Royal Flush is not its own hand type in this game, it's just a Flush that happens to have higher value cards in it. What I wonder is if the Flush House (Another secret hand that only gets listed after played, given for a full house all in the same suit) has its planet! I haven't seen that.@@ItsFlowwey

Cards can have multiple buff types, for instance, glass and the chip, or the multiplier and a chip, but not much beyond that. In short, it depends on the type of buffs you're trying to apply.

It's really feel bad when you forget the boss's special ability, so I really think it should be changed to just not *let* you play hands other than 5 cards big. Ie, the "Play Hand" button should gray out until you select 5 cards. It's one thing to have the boss be difficult, but making the player feel stupid is a good way to get them to rage-quit your game.

Gros Michel is actually great, because it only activates its destroy effect at the end of the blind/boss. So it’s essentially a free +10, which is really good for early game. Also, it funny banana. Praise banana.

12:05 About the Joker that gives you something if scoring hand contains an Ace and a straight. Valid Straights with Aces in Poker include Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10, Jack, Queen, King, Ace. By eliminating Face Cards you only have the first option, but you still can make straights with aces (and actually while playing Balatro myself i found that it's actually easier to get a straight without the 12 face cards in the Deck). 18:30 No there is still one that's better, you actually managed to fulfill one of the conditions of the other secret hand, that being that it its required to be a flush.

There is a planet card that improves five of a kind, it's Planet X. There is also a card for improving a flush house, that's Ceres. A flush house is when you have a full house that is also a flush. Both of those cards can only be found in the planet pack after you've played the hand at least once.

If you get the reroll boss blind effect on blind skip it allows you to fight unique bosses which are not the default ones. I thought one which takes a dollar for every card played and it was pretty hard

Balatro is one of the only roguelikes where it’s easy to accidentally overdo thinning to win, if you’re not counting card you can discard too many and deck out. There’s no reshuffle when you run out of cards, you just end up with a small or even empty hand

Hey Tyler, I’m not sure if you discovered this already on other runs after this, but you can move around the jokers. If you got a joker that multiplies the red number at the start, as you get more jokers that add the red you can move the one that multiplies to the right of them and it’ll multiply at the end instead of whatever position it’s in. DNA is really nice to see early game- and in the full game, with a higher ante limit, it'll be more likely to find in useful scenario. I see it (somewhat ironically) similar to Slay the Spire's "Genetic Algorithm", which gets better each time you play it- making it more valuable the earlier in the run you see it.

you can also get the royal house combo where the full house is all the same suit. I had acheived this using the smeared joker which calculates the suits as red or black instead of CDHS

To answer your question about whether it counts as a flush for jokers, it does. Jokers say "if your hand contains a..." so it does trip them. The planets on the other hand, do not get that buff

If you play the older version that has 10 max ante and boss blind 500k, that joker would be a huge help because it helps you to play multiple times of 5 of a kind of aces. Since you only have to get 50k in this version, a guaranteed 5 of a kind is enough

I can give a really small hint. In the game collection you can see there are more planet cards than standard poker hands so there might be planets for more unusal hands, but sadly there isn't flush three, four or five of a kind.

So, the joker cards that say "have X WITHIN a hand" seems to still pop off even if you technically have a higher hand, as shown by your 4 of a kind joker counting on your 5 of a kind hands. This implies that the 3 of a kind joker might also work for 4 of a kinds, 5 of a kinds, and possibly full houses due to there technically being a 3 of a kind WITHIN the full house.

In any form of card games, an Ace can count as a 1 or "14" (in terms of 10 through Ace straight), so you could have taken the Joker that gave you the extra multiplyer for the Ace and Straight. Cause I actually had it in a run and it works also.
