As someone who has finished the game on normal; it seems that the x0.1 multiplier mentioned at the start was legit. Strong healing potions on normal sell for ~25 gold at base. And, at least at normal, money remains not really an issue; as I ran full a Garden/Alchemy skills build before delving into trading at all and I had plenty of money for my needs during that time.

The Alchemists Guild has a monopoly on potion selling, and the Merchants Guild has a deal to only work with them. This leaves our protagonist in a very tricky spot, having to figure out his own recipes, and only being able to work with unlicensed merchants. Can our hero succeed, or will he fail like all those before him?
@fractalgem4 сағат бұрын
That's a neat way of looking at it. My own headcanon is that suffering difficulty represents you being utterly and completely out of touch with what prices are supposed to be. Either way... The alchemist guild won't dare mess with me and the thousands or tens of thousands of skeletons raised by my cheap mass produced necromancy potions made from weeds growing in my garden :3
@timdood3Сағат бұрын
I can't wait for Tyler to figuring out advanced techniques. He's going to need them to reduce his suffering in the long run. In particular, partial grinds and start-point resets. Finishing the grind on a firebell adds more leftward motion, but also comes down- for an efficient fire potion, you need to get as much upward motion as you can from your firebells. And for dryad's saddle poison, stirring until reaching the first right apex and then diluting back to the origin would have let him start the potion without having to waste so much movement in the wrong direction. Source: I'm a proficient alchemist

Gotta get that garden running first, snag bulk brewing, and do some exploring of the outer ring ahead of schedule to snag the juicy exp from "sequence breaking" with one time luck potions and whatnot. Then you ignore the outer ring in favor of mass producing necromancy 3 potions for further exp until you max out your relevant garden upgrafes. Only then do you improve the economic branch of the tree, and only aftert THAT do you bother selling your mass produced potions for 44 gold each. :)

@@antoniotrivelloni8191 Tbh the more you play the less it makes you suffer. The only parts that are so expensive you need to specifically grind for them individually are alchemy machine upgrades (25-80k), salt recipes(10-100k) and garden upgrades(10-50k). Everything else is pretty manageable. Just... don't repeat my mistakes and level up trading first (not last), it helps A LOT

What you need to do is ignore customers and sell to merchants. Make a couple of expensive potions which each use different ingredients from the garden, and sell in bulk. You will get less money per ingredient, but about 50x more money per hour of play.
@shadowmage6616 сағат бұрын
Unfortunately yeah suffering is not hard just tedious. Grandmaster too to a lesser extent. Would have preferred a debt to pay off like some shop games do
@alexsiemers78985 сағат бұрын
@@shadowmage661you could argue there’s additional difficulty in the more exotic ingredients being incredibly hard to get early on (or for a long time depending on how you get garden seeds), and some challenges like the fire potion without firebell.
@fractalgem4 сағат бұрын
You can still sell to customers with the idea of gradually boosting your popularity with the idea of eventually hitting about 1k per complex request.... But merchants are definitely the main source of actual money at first. I suspect a poison1acid1 necromancy 3 potion would be the best money and exp per ingredient, necromancy 3 can be made with 12 to 16 starting ingredients but you should be able to snag poison on the way without really increasing how many ingredients you need, and mayyyybe acid along the way, though there's a couple other combinations that might still be better.
@fractalgem13 минут бұрын
You can just send customers away if you don't want to do their requests. One of the skills massively reduces the popularity penalty of doing so.
@apophys11106 минут бұрын
I've found that the best for bulk sale are Libido (6 fire + 3 wind with bonus Light & Rage, or 4 fire + 3 wind + 2 stink with bonus Charm & Rage) and Stoneskin+Strength (2 terraria + 1 saddle). These get excellent value per ingredient.
