So glad someone else remembers it too. I will admit it didn’t seem a lot better when I was eight and alien said only just come out on TV for the first time I’ve been trying to figure out exactly when I read the comic. I know it was sometime after I saw aliens on TV as a kid, but as to how many years I don’t know, I know that it was during the time when we were still short of any games, consoles and most stuff was still on PC, because I remember friends of mine owning marines versus ed209s or something very similar dreadnoughts. I believe they called them and then I saw this comic possibly a few years later adapting the Marines type armour versus alien hives. I’d love to know the exact year though there was a real fever among fanfiction for alien versus humans in marine armour

Why does every ALIEN story have only a few soldiers? I figured once humanity found out about them they would only send overwhelming force like in StarshipTroopers. Its as if the entire human civilization can only afford a dozen marines at a time.
@TheLitRight4 ай бұрын
Modern armies don’t actually benefit from “overwhelming force” in terms of infantry. That’s probably why. Especially when it’s known that every downed soldier is basically a potential enemy being created. Plus 99% of the stories are spec-ops that nobody is meant to know about. In this particular story, it’s meant to be a grab and go mission. They thought the suits and tech on hand made it an easy enough mission - dangerous, but within acceptable parameters for danger. A thousand suits becomes a logistical issue, and cramming them all into a hive in the end-game probably doesn’t help. If extermination was the goal, they’d just be nuking them from orbit, rather than sending in strike teams of thousands of troops.

For anyone that is interested there are novelization versions of the comics as well, for this one called Genoicide as well as the Earth War trilogy. Steve and S.D. Perry novelized several of the Aliens comic book series. I think this one in particular was novelized by David Bischoff. I highly recommend the novelizations as an alternative to the comics because they sometimes go deeper into the backstory, not that the comics were bad because that's what I started off with as well.

Funny story, when I was a kid, maybe 6 or 7 years old, I picked up an issue from this storyline that had the sax playing next to the shield perimeter and the xenomorph head going flying. Cool to see this finally covered on the channel!

Behind the scenes question: I am curious how my own work progress compares to others for this kind of narration work - speaking only of the audio, for an hour and twenty minutes of final product, I might have about two hours worth of raw recording. That means about a third of the raw recording gets cut. And a two hour recording session I find to be pretty rough on the voice. Today I did over three hours of recording, and good gawd, my throat is utterly toast. It's not the first time I've had such a long recording session, and last time I didn't know how to recover other than just time, and I still haven't figured anything out. Hot drinks don't seem to help much, at least not obviously so. Do you do anything special, or just rest the voice for a few days and that's all there is for it?
@AlienTheory3 жыл бұрын
Usually I’ll take a little break if I hit 40 minutes of raw recording. Then I’ll edit as I go. Anything over 1 hour ends up being a real strain and I don’t think it’s good for you. Believe me I know the drive and excitement of finally getting to the mic but sometimes you have to pace yourself.
@sststr3 жыл бұрын
The reason I feel compelled to record in one sitting is I find the quality of my voice can change significantly even over short periods of time. If I record in one go, I get a mostly consistent voice quality over the entire recording. Ah well, so it goes.
