@ulfingvar1Ай бұрын
And the question remain: what did the Engineers worship? That much discussed mural seen in Prometheus might very well show a life form from which the Engineers extracted the black goo or Prometheus Fire, a life form so old, so vicious, so weird, that it could very well fit the description of "cosmic horror." Lovecraft anyone? Might even Cthulhu himself, or some sibling, show up? THAT would be the ultimate trip!!

@@ulfingvar1 This “cosmic horror” tone- inspired by Lovecraft and even more modern concepts of psychological and existential terror- could be exactly what the series needs to stand out. I can't wait to see how Hawley will integrate these influences and create something that is both familiar and surprising within the Alien universe.

I really liked the Alien comics of the 80s and 90s. The whole Earth War run - which really emphasized the hyper-capitalism of Weyland-Yutani and all the other corporate entities constantly in battle for money and power, morals and ethics at minima. I liked how the Earth hive was started by a corporation getting a hold of an Egg, and raising the xenomorph in high tech captivity until a group of "pro-alien" cultists free the queen, starting the beginning of the Earth War. Now I'm not saying it should be exactly like that, but I feel like that is the bones of a great tv series. You've got the dark drama of the corporations, the weird misguided ideas of people who view the xenomorph as a savior or a better sentience or whatever, and then ultimately, the beginning of the battle for Earth, the loss of Earth, and then later the retaking (should the series be a success with multiple seasons). I e long said the comics had some decent stories that would be good for tv.

I love both Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, so hearing for the longest time that Alien: Earth was going to take place before Prometheus made me fairly apprehensive. I get that the prequels are a polarizing part of the franchise but they’re still from the man who started it all, they don’t deserve to be pushed aside. Or at least I don’t think so. And for all we know that still might be the case, I know Noah Hawley said that the Xeno being this recent creation doesn’t do him any good. So they could retcon Ridley Scott’s intention to have David be the creator of the Xenomorph to just having David create his own version via Engineer technology. Either way, I just want any sort of continuation from Covenant. I've thought about this a lot. Probably more than I should. On earth we have something called "Carcinisation", where things sort of tend toward evolving into crabs. What if on a universal scale, because of the black goo, everything evolves towards the xenomorph? There can only be one "perfect organism," and all things would eventually evolve toward it, unerringly. The goo just hypersteps over the intermediary forms and gets to the end of the line. So the real origin is not David, he just discovered it anew. But it's always been there. And we still do not know the true origin of the goo, we just know that the Engineers had a lot of it, but we don't know where it came from. Maybe they, too, just rediscovered it along their development. Maybe, no matter what you do, evolution will take you to the xenomorph stage. It's always been there.

@ulfingvar1Ай бұрын
Why should that really be a contradiction? The Engineers planned to send Xenos to Earth, to wipe out Mankind (much like the wrathful God of the old testament) but something went very wrong. Who knows, David might have stumbled over the Engineer's home world, or at least some outpost, and sent a ship aimed for Earth, in order to, like the Engineers, wipe us out, but only to pave way for androids. IT WOULD get a little "crowded," but not necessarily a contradiction. This could lead to something very interesting, potentially polarizing, yet very interesting.

@@shockwave75 Have remembered now where I read this. The original script for Alien: Engineers (that evolved into Prometheus) covered this. A juggernaut had been despatched to destroy humanity "around the time of Jesus" but it clearly never arrived (because, the theory based on that script goes) it crashed on the moon where the Nostromo found it this explaining why everything was fossilised over 2000 years. In Prometheus the surviving Engineer was just going to give it a second go. PLUS David did not create THE xenomorph just another form of xenomorph. The black goo creates the lifeforms but their form is dictated by the host organism (like in Alien 3 when it is a dog).
@maxvecna2913Ай бұрын
To present a different scenario, one must admit that the amount of time between the prospective series (2120) and the events on the Nostromo (2122) is just not enough time for these events to be related. Even if it was determined that the ship that crash-landed on Earth was from LV426 almost immediately, the Nostromo would already be on its return trip, and its course was completely as the crew expected until the interruption of their hypersleep, so the detection of the distress call/warning message would have been completely coincidental with the events on Earth. I'd have preferred that the creators of the series had taken their inspiration from the comics series that outlined the near complete extermination of mankind once the Xenomorphs became entrenched here. But I'll settle for anything well-conceived and well-written, as I'm sure you'll agree. Thanks for your work on this channel, I enjoy it a great deal. You also tipped me to the Alien Stompers a few years ago, and I was able to get some. This is all kind of a mess because they have to shoehorn it in somewhere, and David's experiments ultimately lead to the first Xeno's found on LV4226, so yeah the company has to land there before the events of Alien and be "aware"'of the species as Ash says. This all means that whatever takes place in Alien Earth involves one of the moons and the company abandons the place and covers up their tracks only to force the Nostromo to return years later to pick up the pieces. If only Alien3 didn't exist it would have been much easier... If they try and retcon Prometheus and Covenant it's gonna be a dumpsterfire timeline because Romulous has already done the recent service of bridging the two series with the black goo! @@musicilike69 first of all chill. That's quite a reaction from me just saying I like Romulus. Second, Never said Romulus was a perfect movie, there are certainly things I did not like about it. Its the best Alien movie we got in a while. I do like Prometheus but I do acknowledge that it was an objectively bad movie. If you would like to debate Romulus I'm more than happy to do so, but I do not think here is the right place for that. edit: to all the retards who want to pile on, I am more than happy to debate the movie on a platform that will not censor my words. if you don't want to do that, sod off.

I suspect they end up finding where the ship that crashed on Earth comes from (LV-226) and see that the Nostromo is the closest ship to that planet and redirect it remotely to the it. Maybe before the Juggernaut crashed on LV-226, an engineer fled in an escape pod without realizing there was an Alien in it. Then years, decades or centuries later that pod crashed on Earth with an Alien or egg in it, which will create the event of Alien Earth.

The confirmation of the year this story takes place removes a gigantic weight off my shoulders. It has always been rumored to take place much earlier in the timeline that always pissed me off because nothing made sense then afterwards. How can't anyone in the original films (yes, including Aliens) know of these aliens if an outbreak took place half a century before they were born or so? Now it's just 2 years prior to Alien. So, sure, some absolutely do know & I think we all look forward to just how much Weyland-Yutani indeed knew. But now it makes sense why Ripley herself had no idea of this creature. I don't know when she left Amanda at home to do her job on the Nostromo but it realistically should have been during this very same time as Alien Earth happens. Ripley is simply not home. And if Alien Earth geographically contains the Xeno outbreak so that most of mankind will never learn just how darn lucky they were then Earth finally fits in. Previously, it never did for me. If they had revealed this sooner I think the hype had been greater. Many have had a problem with when in the timeline this was meant to happen.

Well Prometheus is good timeline wise, and shows the Alien was around before hand. Covenant not only contradicts that, but screws up the timeline with the first Alien film. the short films add to the Bluray not only further screws things up, but contradicts the actual film Covenant. Romulus shows a connection to Prometheus, and Alien with nods to Aliens, Resurrection and even the game Isolation. They smartly ignored Covenant altogether, not saying it was removed from canon just not mentioned. If this Alien Earth takes place before Alien, they could play it smart and take a note from AvP. In that it shows how WY learns of the Alien, and how no one else knew of the events that took place. But if they connect it to Covenant, and throw in mentions of it etc. then they will just further throw into question the timeline and the creation of the Alien that Covenant screws up.

Prometheus and Covenant are great honestly. I get the criticisms, but I still think they’re more worthy of being carried over than Alien 3 or Resurrection. So having Alien Earth potentially fill in some blanks works for me! I hope they tie some of David’s story into it. But I’m also gonna be happy if it stays its own thing.

Its Alien, so no matter what, I am there for it. My dad had me watching Aliens when I was like 4 and it has been my favourite franchise since. 33 years later and I am still watching them all frequently and I will continue to do so til the day I die. Like you say, if the story can justify wheat its doing properly. it will be fine either way. I have great hope, slight apprehension, but most of all, pure excitement!

I love these movies & can't wait til the series. I'm not confused at all about the time line. Like i said earlier, aliens were only on Earth in its earlier history because the predators brought them there to hunt. The one thing i love about Scott is that he always leaves you in suspense. The company has been trying to use these aliens DNA for as long as i can remember. Actually, they are no different than the predators. Everyone's attempting to harvest whatever they can from this species simply to make their own species better. I love Sci-fi & Tom Clancy. LOL! I've actually published a book adding Sci-fi into the Tom Clancy genre. I'm C.S. Parker & the book is called Volume. So. When I seen the soldiers in the water resembling the xenomorphs, i got extremely excited. Perhaps, one day I'll be able to assist in carrying out the Alien trilogy. Until then, I'll continue writing my own. Can't wait til summer 2025. Merry Xmas & happy new year to everyone 🎉

The events of Alien Covenant are set in 2104 not 2101. Also, it's not a "mysterious vessel" that crashes on earth, the ship belongs to a new antagonist called Prodigy Corp. who apparently found the alien on LV-426 before Weyland/Yutani.

I'll watch... but I'm skeptical of the "pre-Nostromo" timeline for the series. The events of the original film need to feel remote, isolated far out into the nigh-unreachable reaches of explored space, to maintain its terrifying tone. If another crew has encountered another Alien first, and brought it to Earth two years prior to the events of the first film, it undermines the tension and terror of those events, makes it seem less special or less urgent, and shrinks down navigable space to a region where these previously remote, bizarre, singular extraterrestrials are a dime a dozen.

I don't hold high hopes for it. Romulus was good, but I wouldn't take that as a sign. It did fix some plot holes for Alien and Aliens, but it was very much a rehash of what we've seen before, just handled better than what other movies have tried. For instance, it was done so much better than Star Wars episode 7, which was just one giant rehash of 4, but with new action figures to collect

They should tell a completely independent story. The fact that everything always has to fit together seems obsessive and undermines the potential for a good story of its own. The franchise offers room for fresh ideas of your own outside the corset of the original story.
@davidnicholls5303Ай бұрын
I'm more optimistic for this series than I was for Romulus, unfortunately the dark shadow of Ridley Scott looms large over this, meaning we're going to see something really bad. One can only hope that Noah Hawley has more of a backbone than Alvarez had & pushes back on that prequel nonsense

So, the hero is once again a courageous woman with shortish brunette hair.
