Last time I was at Bass Pro, all they had for kayaks was Ascend and minimal accessories

Yep, all nice stuff and some good tips on the reality of each purchase. It's insane to me that even a "fishing" kayak setup (trolling motor, storage accesories/graph/landing gear and or trailer) can easily be $5000-$7000. Yet, one still runs the risk of flipping it (much more than say a 14ft aluminum boat w/9 horse motor - also will get you out of a storm much faster ). Yet, financing say a $20,000 Tracker boat set-up (far from current high end models) for 7 or 10 years is multiples of insanity. I guess that's the American dream though. Kudos to those who can pay cash.

A Scheels recently opened in my area and I was pretty impressed with their kayak selection. They had pretty much all the big brands except Jackson. I don't live in an area with a lot of specialty kayak dealers and the few we do have only carry a couple brands so it was nice to finally be able see the boats in person. Scheels is a general sporting goods store like Dick's so I was surprised their lineup was so extensive.

Yeah the scheels by myself is basically old town, hobie, and some native.

You should have to deal with Bass Pro senior management when they try to come into your town and open a store!!! It's unbelievable !!! That's all I have to say about Bass Pro.

You can spend around $4,000 on a 'Yak, but then have to spend another $5,000 getting it "Up-To-Snuff" (Heck, good electronics are gonna cost ya nearly $4,000 just by themselves!). Lol After everything is added, it gets crazy Heavy (then ya gotta buy a trailer for the darn thing!). So... a "Decent" kayak set-up is going to cost you way over $10,000...! Haha!.
@AliexFolgueira5 ай бұрын
but you can just have a paddle kayak with a bixpy and call it a day
@imperialwhovian34615 ай бұрын
Or just don't use electronics, been fishing with no electronics for years and I still do well, just because someone else has 6k in electronics on their kayak doesn't mean you have to. As for a trailer look for a used one and fix it up, I got one for dirt cheap and just had to spend some time cleaning it up and fixing wiring now it looks great

Bass pro in the last 2 or 3 years has been going downhill. I do not expect them to last much longer. At least in my area and i am in a major fishing hub. like 4 lakes right next to me all have bass masters tournaments for year and years. Caddo lake being one of them. and red river. And all the lakes close to me are packed almost every day.o Bass pro just does have anything special I need or want the have lost there niche. Amazon killed that and Walmart does the rest. they became a clothing store with some fishing supply's and big boats. It is stupid
