I must say that I'm one of the naive ones that bought the 8m-f following your video review of the 8m thinking it was the same board, my mistake. It was only a few days later that I noticed my mistake by watching the vrms. At least it seems to work fine and was the cheapest one available, lesson learned. I bought it from the offical store thinking it would be more serious, ha! Waiting for that 8m-f review and bios mods to unlock memory timmings, thanks for all your work.

I agree with this 33:39 I have received items like CPU heat sink that is a bit bent from how the shipping company handled the item but dont bother opening any kind of dispute as it still works and its not the sellers fault on how the shipping company handles the product. If it works, I am happy.

Those fake 1050's never used to be prevalent on AliExpress but I remember seeing them flooding eBay a couple of years ago. As soon as I saw the horribly cheap and generic shroud I knew they were fake, let alone the far too low price. The actual GPU chips/PCBs are GTX 400 series or GTS 700 series if I remember correctly .

Great video for someone who's about to shop first time from ali express. in one video with tech yes city he got track number but his ordered cabinet case delivered to someone else this happened in very rare case and from hint i think these motherboards were MACHINIST X79 Turbo motherboard LGA2011 support DDR3 ECC memory Xeon E5 V1 V2 processor PCI-E NVME M.2 X79 V2.82 and Machinist X99 K9 also seems like you gonna test i3 10100f for Budget builders waiting for the review 👍

Great video, but you left out one of the most inportant thing: Never cancel dispute! This is your only chance to get back your money. Dispute doesn't hurt them as much as they state, otherwise they would happily give back your money, they just want your money and forget you. Usually if I contact them with any problem they are ignorant or condescending, non of the selleres ever helped without opening a dispute. They always try to cross the costumer, for example ask you to cancel dispute and after they send you another product, they go as far as provide a fake tracking number. If they state something like that I ask them to provide this solution in the dispute interface and I will accept it there, of course they never do that. Reputable sellers are kind and helpful even without your money, accepting a dispute within 1-2 days if it is valid, or offering partial refound. I usually offer them 5 star review for the fast support if they accept the dispute and they usually take it, or if the package is doesn't arrived in time, even after extending the time period I ask back my money and pay them back when it's arrived. Flashlights and pendrives always stolen during shipping if they not tracked.

1:25 I had that experience.. or well, almost... The first GPU I bought off Aliexpress was an RX470. It worked fine the first night, but then when I wanted to play games, it would heat up, reset itself and then lock itself in, not letting me do anything other than watching the desktop. It turned out that the housing of the fans was pushing the PCB causing some VRAM chips to lose contact with the heatsink. Luckily I discovered the problem in time (after several attempts of performing maintenance with different thermal pastes and thermal pads). That was the first and last GPU I bought on AE.

Important not to those that buy from Aliexpress, if you get something that is not EXACTLY what you expected do not ask them to clarify and admit that it works but is not what you expected. I have gotten products that like he says were labeled misleadingly and I make sure to only buy things that have a return option the best bet at that point if you did got something that you suspect they are trying to rip you off is just to say that it never worked from the moment you opened it (two can play at this game is my thought) and return right away (this has never failed for me) but if they still say they will not refund then call your bank/credit card company and charge the purchase back and tell them that the company will not accept the return per the policy you agreed to when purchasing. I know it sounds bad but these guys do this on purpose and playing "fair" will only get you screw over.

I don't think it's bad in any way. If you get not what you ordered, it's not your responsibility to check whether it works or no, thus saying that it's not working (for you) and returning it is totally fine.

I fell for the Huananzhi X99 8M-F trap, does that mean I can't use the turbo boost unlock trick? What are the downsides of this board? Worse VRM performance? Slow USB3?

You still can use the Turbo Boost unlock hack, and I am going to update Mi899 app with the compatible BIOS options, but B85 chipset has fewer SATA 3.0, fewer USB 3.0, no overclocking capabilities, and this board has completely disastrous VRM, thus I would not recommend anything higher than E5-2640 V3.

I bought one of these shady QIYIDA e5 2620v3 combos with "2400MHZ" DDR4 sticks, then I got only 1866 speed and asked the seller for info, he told me the RAM speed is tied to the cpu model, at least its super cheaper compared to used old tech in my country.

The huananzhi 8M-F is a downgrade, but in some sellers they put in the description that the Chipset is B85. I didn't see the same for Szmz and Machinist. Amd gpus is like minesweeper, you can get lucky or get pwned by the vendor hahaha, I bought four RX570 pulse and one RX470 nitro (which was supposed to be D version, the seller did put in the product page that he send randomly) and works fine. Instead of m.2 wifi, the best option is getting a pcie x1 wifi +bluetooth (ax200)

You can use X99-TF, it has 4 memory slots for DDR3 and 4 memory slots for DDR4. Just make sure to don't use both memories at the same time.

It's never a good idea to buy from AliExpress but if you don't have another option then try to stick with at least somehow reputable sellers and brands.

I always buy the cheapest. Was never disappointed, and everything worked. The chinese products are commodity items. It would be silly to expect perfectly consistent quality. I don't think they deliberately scam people. My belief is that a lot of them are regular people and don't really know what they are selling. They wouldn't know the difference between an 8M and 8MF, nor would I. I would have been perfectly happy to get either at the cheapest price. Even now, I am perfectly happy with my "fake" x79. It's running like a champ and giving me no problems after 4-5 years. I am even happy with the not so great KingDian that died from the power off button but came back alive. I had a SandDisk and OCZ that did not survive the same event. I do feel slightly bad for calling KingDian seller/support monkeys - their product in fact did good on hindsight. My chinese car components are running great too.

Good informative video! I took the opportunity and reviewed Machinist Store and their X99z V102 motherboard I had om my wish list. It seems like recent purchasers got a new version of this board, revision v102A. But no info is given on what the changes are if this "A" revision. Has rev v102A still got a genuine x99 chip set? Or have they like other manufactures started to cheap out on it, most recent reviews don;t mention anything.

Both removed the X99Z-V102 and replaced it with a X99-RS9 (see: www.aliexpress.com/item/4000750170401.html) Seeing it has 4 sata ports, am I correctly reckoning they've changed the chipset to a B85-like one here as well? Speculation, do you think this this could mean that X99/C612 are getting more rare and thus they are switching to different more readily available chipsets like the B85?

@@gkirmathal as far as I know from my Chinese sources, China is out of the X99/C612 chipsets and they can't buy more from Intel due to the trade war. Thus, all the next revisions of the Chinese X99 boards are coming with B85 (or similar) chipset. The C612 chipset is left for the dual socket motherboards.

only an FYI. Just checked out all your affiliate? links. ALZENIT X99-PE7 says no longer available , MSI X99 S04 says no longer available, JingSha X99-D8 + E5-2678 V3 gives Page not found In all of my AliXprs dealings I've had a fake PCI/ISA port80 card, PCI worked, ISA did not. took photos, even removed chip to look if traces were damaged but was not even connected to anything . got money back. fake JFET transistors, noticed too late, and a laptop battery which kinda worked, same specs as original mAh, V, though hardly an hour of working time, this last one makes me feel I should've tested it some way if the capacity was actually as written. I'm still doubtful about it.

Thank you for checking the links! I am going to revisit the list, this one was created a weeks ago. Regarding the battery, I think, you can record how long the laptop survives with the battery and compare with the official specs. If the difference is too big - open a dispute.

@@Miyconst The battery was over a year and half ago, so I think it's too late. I wasn't able to measure the capacity, but the laptop only did 1:30 hours on a charge. I ended up opening the battery and measuring the voltage, whilst full it was at 12.6 V and empty it would measure 11.1V, which seems kinda odd to me. Anyway, no worries and Thanks for making these videos !

I will refer to the end of the video but i have reversed situation. I have buy regular xeon e5 2670 v3 with original writings on it. But when run cpu-z, it came out that this is ES version. Obviously, the cpu was remarked. This is one more fraud on chinese market. I have buy it on ebay.

@@Miyconst honestly, i don't know at this point, i have install it half an hour ago and boom.. i saw it was ES and went to bed instantly 🤣. I will check tommorow with aida64... It manage turbo boost (2.8) so i presume it has higher steppings, or is it??

Just check the stepping with CPU-Z, if it's 2 - your CPU is identical to the final retail variant and you were not cheated. Such CPUs exist and usually made at the very final stage of development when Intel needs some units to send out to the reviewers.

@@Miyconst Oh, i get it, but i don't quite understand how they can send the cpu for review if base clock is 2.2 and turbo 2.8? That's significant drop of performance. Is there possibility, if stepping 2, that monitoring software doesn't read correctly? Is it 3.1 turbo after all, and how to proof that?
