Aliexpress Grand Auditorium Kit Build - Part 7: Finishing and End Product

Hi guys, welcome to a new video series where I build a cheap grand auditorium kit I bought off Aliexpress. The kit itself only cost me about $80 USD including shipping. There weren’t any reviews or videos made on this kit so I decided to give it a shot. I’ve built a StewMac Triple 0 kit about 3 years ago, and the skills are transferrable. Thanks for making this great videos. The finished guitar looks great :) How much time did you needed til the guitar was completly done?

I waited about 2 weeks before wet sanding and buffing, but given it was 2K it dried much faster and harder, so theoretically one can sand and buff it out the next day but I chose to wait longer. Total time taken to make the guitar was about 4 months, but I didn't work on it everyday and had limited tools.

Simon. Incredible job. I've looked on Aliexpress and I don't see this model with mahogany back and side available, the only similar one I see on that site is the Rosewood back and sides with a spruce top. Did you intentionally get the mahogany back and sides kit or was that just what was available? Thanks

Hey friend, what is this aerosol varnish based on? Water or another solvent? How long did this aerosol varnish you used stay on your guitar? Did it last?

I think it's a urethane base. It's basically 2k clear, which the automotive people use. There's a hardener that accelerates the drying process and the finish hardens very quickly, ready to buff within the next few days. And it's a very hard finish as well. Some modern guitar companies use this finish. It's quite scratch resistant so definitely built to last.

@@simpleone1989 Wau, I don't know this product, urethane, I know polyurethane, where I live they don't sell this, you answered me so quickly, thank you for clearing my doubt, I don't usually use P.U. Or any very rigid varnish on my guitar, as it works as if the wood had received a thick leather coat which prevents the guitar from vibrating, I will try to use a light aerosol varnish
