Let's just be honest. Everyone else is just trying to sound like a Martin. Original OG literally. Hummingbird has some strong points and so do Taylors and many others but pound for pound no one covers all bases like a Martin.

the Martin has a brighter sound. The Gibson Hummingbird has depth with a deeper tone.

Great demo, tones and playing too. Thank you so much for making this!! It has been hard to find anyone playing the neck pickup by itself.
@gerardoromano3436Ай бұрын
Very good comparison , you did a great job, Di Marzio makes every pickup sound the best without breaking the bank, this set is almost 50% the cost of Fender noisless pickups. And they´re very good, sound´s almost like a single coil, just a tad darker, but the difference is small and you don´t have to listen to 60 hz hum all day long.

I like the BB’s because they allow you to turn treble up on amp which in turn usually allows for more gain without being too shrill. All opinion tho 🤷🏻

It's possible but really depends on how skilled and confident you are with a dremel. For me it seems a bit dangerous and I would probably not try it.

Any update on this? Would you do it again? Would you do anything differently?
@simpleone19893 ай бұрын
I didn't manage to record a follow up video but the sound significantly improved after about a year. It became warmer and had more depth to it. Unfortunately because of the lighter bracing the top arched more and the poorly glued bridge started lifting at the wings so I had to reglue it. I'll definitely do it again, maybe on one of their budget slope shoulder models. Nothing I would've done differently.

Hey friend, what is this aerosol varnish based on? Water or another solvent? How long did this aerosol varnish you used stay on your guitar? Did it last?
@simpleone19899 ай бұрын
I think it's a urethane base. It's basically 2k clear, which the automotive people use. There's a hardener that accelerates the drying process and the finish hardens very quickly, ready to buff within the next few days. And it's a very hard finish as well. Some modern guitar companies use this finish. It's quite scratch resistant so definitely built to last.
@rogermenali18419 ай бұрын
@@simpleone1989 Wau, I don't know this product, urethane, I know polyurethane, where I live they don't sell this, you answered me so quickly, thank you for clearing my doubt, I don't usually use P.U. Or any very rigid varnish on my guitar, as it works as if the wood had received a thick leather coat which prevents the guitar from vibrating, I will try to use a light aerosol varnish

Both are beautiful guitars. I have a hd-28. I also have a Gibson but not a hummingbird. My Gibson is the j-45 also a wonderful guitar. Either guitar here is a wise choice. If you have the luxury of a guitar store near you go play them both for yourself. When I bought my j-45 I was in the market for a Martin d-18 to round out my martins. I also have a d-35. The j-45 was so much better for me. I would love to have a hummingbird but it would come with a divorce. I would have to choose between the hummingbird or my wife but the divorce was cost more. Sorry hummingbird. I'll just have to live with the hummingbirds around my feeder. Now if my wife should decide to leave me the first thing I would do is buy a hummingbird. But until then I'll live with what I've got.

Hi, If you install noisless pickups in any single coil guitar you should change the pots from 250k (stock) to 500k, don´t forget nosless pickups are stacked humbackers that looks like a regular single coil, the magic happens when you get close to single coil sound with noisless pickup, there is the advantage IMHO (don´t underestimate the effect of the pots at least the volume pot must be 500k for noisless or humbackers in this case the Di Marzio´s
@simpleone198910 ай бұрын
Thanks for the tip! Will try 500k in the future!
@SergeiVlassov7 ай бұрын
Dimarzio recommends 250k with Areas, and those who tried 500k reported it was too much, too ice-peaky, so Dimarzio voiced these to be used with 250k.
@gerardoromano3436Ай бұрын
@@SergeiVlassov My expirience with 250k pots and Di Marzio´s AREA T pickups is that they sound darker than a true single coil (like in this video) l, both neck and bridge, when I switched to 500K Dimarzio pickups came to life, they sound like a vintage Tele pickup without the hum, I recorded both and the difference is just as I´ve just described. BTW Dimarzios user/installation guide is inclomplete and generic. I prefer testing and hearing than reading forums. a 10 buck change made a world off difference, If you look at the specs off any noisless pickup they recommend 500k at least the volume control (for single coil) Remember noisless pickups are stacked humbackers , so as such it peforms the best wirh 500k pots. Again this pickups Area T DP317 and DP418 are the best noisless pickup I´ve heard/used. The same are Dimarzio area 58, 67 and 61 for strat, I have a set but haven´t installed yet. Oh they´re inexpensive because people doesn´t want noisless pickups, the same people that write in forums, they don´t try, don´t listen just use their imagination. We are in 2024, whe don´t need to deal with 60 ro 50 hz hum to have a real single coil sound.

Hello simon, I already have a pickup system installed in my Walden guitar but the piezo wire sounds ghastly. I was thinking if I add three transducers right under the bridge and connect that cable into the preamps input which hosted the piezo wire earlier (I guess a 2.5mm connector) will the results be better ?? I have searched a lot and haven’t found any answer yet or any video other than yours to come ever closer to what I have in my head.
@miltontuffpuff11 ай бұрын
How will I know if the output of three transducers will be equal to the piezo wire ? Is there a way to measure it ? Could you help me out please ?
@simpleone198911 ай бұрын
@@miltontuffpuff Hi I think if you wire them in parallel they should sound OK. My knowledge in electronics is very limited but I think once they are in parallel, the preamp should be able to amplify the signals. I think transducers on the bridge plate, like a K&K mini, will sound good with the piezo UST. I have done this method of wiring to some of my other guitars and they sound much better.
