I love the quality of your video bud but, you for real need to cut those finger nails. Im worried you are going to gouge the aluminum on the head. 🤣 Also dont toque your cam shaft outside in. You need to torque it from the inside out. Outside of that good job bud.

Why didn't you show installation of the chain tensioner?

I have one question about camshaft seals, some people claims that its better to put seals to its places only after the cam holder is bolted on, because the seals can wrap and cause leaking, they usually do this by tapping with some ratchet socket. In this video, You put new cam seals first, and after that you bolted on the cam holder, didn´t you wrap the seals sometimes by using this method? What is your opinion, which of this 2 methods are better?

I keep getting a camshaft position error on my 2003 1.8T Jetta, and cannot figure out what could be causing it. It has been checked by 4 very good mechanics including myself, and we all concur that the timing is perfectly set. We believe the problem may jave to do with the reclutor that the position sensor reads, but there is NO information or diagrams for this part. God I hate this car! Does anyone have may ideas?? Thanks

Look in cam sensor if it's metal dust on magnet ,then you destroy sensor .You must change cam sensor and restart "check engine " .several times . Greatings from vw Germany .

What’s the difference between the AEB and AWM motors?
@ItsViirn4 жыл бұрын
AEB is The 058 block and non VVT the aeb was the larger port engine and had larger wrist pins too. Reliable. Drop some rods and go. Awm has VVT 06A block. With internal water pump. While 058 block is external.

Hi ! can you help me? 1.8t auq 180hp vvt leon, I changed everything, chain, belt, oil pressure, good camshaft sensor, all the reasons and it throws the error code P0012, what could be the problem?
@NaberAuto4 жыл бұрын
The one critical aspect - how to install the cam timing phaser in the right place without breaking the nylon "shoes" is missing - lots ot time on super simple stuff, but the cam adjuster is missing in one shot, and already installed on the next shot. But at least you showed how to count 15 link pins in the timing chain between the two cam timing marks......but cut those fingernails!

So I didn't know that the lifters were not interchangeable and I didn't label them in any way when I removed them, but I what do I do?
@livefree68785 жыл бұрын
I think you’re fine, the mechanic that taught me did it this way. If I had a stray lifter that was in better condition, I would replace it without batting an eye.
@Anonymous-ee8ef4 жыл бұрын
Replace them all with new ones otherwise you will have extreme wear on the cam shaft

Hey quick question, do you think its possible to change the camshaft lifters timing chain and set it into time whilst having the engine inside of the car?

Very good video. Now did you do this because of a timing belt failure, resulting in bent valves and replaced them? Thanks
@livefree68785 жыл бұрын
Yes, the timing belt broke and the valves need to be replaced because they were bent. Who replaced the bent valves, then Hydro tested them like pouring water on to the valves to verify they were sealed.

Your torque sequence is wrong. You start torqueing in the center of the cam and work criss cross from there evenly
@Lehmann1085 жыл бұрын
Dude, you're not going to "snap" a camshaft because you torque out of sequence! I mean, torque in the right sequence but nothing is going to snap.

So you’re saying I can trust parts from Amazon? Such as a camshaft? Cuz I wanna buy an intake camshaft for my A4 b8 and Amazon has one for like a fraction of the genuine one of about $900! Basically it’s like $100ish on amazon.
