Russian tradition 😂 Headband “like a crown” called kokoshnik was a must have for a woman and queen was not an exception. Ceremonial queen’s ‘crown’ was called venetz, and coronation crown was called crown. Here on video she has a western crown though 😡, russian queen’s ‘crowns’ are completely different. Russian kings wear a crown on coronation only for almost 500 years, it seems 🤷🏻 So, kings w/o crown is rather historical.

As someone who has not read the novels and was not familiar with the Grishaverse beforehand, "Shadow And Bone" has turned out to be one of the best new series I've seen in years. Let's just say that I am well outside the target audience for the show and the books. I wouldn't fall under the core fandom for either of them. Yet I thoroughly enjoyed this show. The cast, the production values, the special effects, the sets and settings as well as the wonderful soundtrack (special shout out to Joseph Trapanese). While the first season was not perfect (and it doesn't have to), this show has a lot of potential for further growth and development, and I mean that as a positive. I would add that perhaps ten episodes, instead of eight, might have given the story and characters a bit more breathing room to evolve, but it is what it is and that is just perhaps nitpicking. I am definitely happy that the show got renewed for a second season and am looking forward to it. The only downside...the damn waiting time between seasons...

Agreed. I haven't read the books, and I usually don't like YA fantasy (more of a ASOIAF type of reader myself) and yet I loved this series. Far better than the later seasons of the Witcher.
