@Anonymous------3 ай бұрын
You're correct, Pyramid Lake is a hidden treasure of Jasper. Pyramid Lake Lodge (formerly called Pyramid Lake Resort) is the best hotel for the money to stay in Jasper, it is less known due to its location outside the town but it's the best place to stay in Jasper for people who like to be living in nature but don't want to camp. The Pyramid Lake is right in front of the hotel. The hotel provides rental canoes, boats and paddle boards, maybe free to hotel guests. There's nowhere else like that in Jasper. There is free ice-skating rink on the lake in the winter, bring your own skates or rent them at the hotel. I don't know if the fire got to it though.

Very much enjoyed your video … I have gone to Jasper numerous times (starting as a youngster on family trips in the 70’s) and many times as an adult. Such a wonderful and relaxing place (less commercial than Banff, but has become more so). Tragic that about 1/3rd of the town has been ravaged by fire - but many landmarks remain (Athabaskan hotel - used to be live music there, and I think much of Connaught Drive remains (main street too). A couple things I always enjoyed was walking around Jasper Park Lodge … and I frequently went to Bearspaw bakery (white chocolate raspberry scone - I would stop in Jasper just for those while driving between AB and BC. Something else to note with the Columbia Ice fields there was a walking path that had signs for where the glacier was at a point in time - dramatic change since the 80’s (a walkable distance whereas now a serious hike).

Being from Calgary, we don’t get up to Jasper as often as we’d like but it certainly is a favourite of ours. Just curious if you’re aware of the Okotoks Erratic? Pretty amazing to see this huge erratic weighing over 16 thousand tons sitting there near Calgary knowing it where it came from.

As I'm sure Alina knows by my bugging her to visit Jasper for years, this is my favourite park. I travel here for the three week Dark Sky's Festival every November. For Astronomy buffs this is a great time. The Jasper Planetarium takes 5 or 6 telescopes up to the Sky Tram Upper Station on Whistlers Mountain and place on various points on walkway to view the evening sky 1 mile above the ground. Weather can be iffy as I've done this at worst -35 Degrees Celsius and at best -5 Degrees Celsius. As to price it's Canada so pay more just because. However in defence of the prices, I've just been doing the same things in Switzerland and the prices are the same here, if not more because the Swiss Franc is worth more than the Canadian Dollar. Alina you didn't Schedule enough time in Jasper as three or four days are needed just to hit the high points. Maligne Lake Cruise on the 22 km long lake to often photographed Spirit Island or the adventurist can rent a canoe or kayak. The cruise is an hour and half in length but is an hours drive from the Jasper townsite. In my opinion it's worth it. On the downside even while in Europe, I've been keeping up the Evacuation of Jasper and the park due to nearby forest fires. Hopefully, the will be able to contain the fire and limit damage. Praying for rain for the area. Still as always a great video by Alina. I think for the time you had you did Jasper Proud.

Just an idea, if there is a chance to visit the northernmost airport on this world without expedition equipment. Ice bear´s included. You fly along and along and along further than Greenland. Just one alternate point on the way if there is something turning wrong, JanMayen, a just temporary staffed Norwegian military base. Longyearbyen/Svalbard/Spitzbergen. Jasper had always been a sitting duck waiting for the fire disaster due to all those tens of thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of dry dead trees surrounding the town, the government knew the dangerous threat, but they never did anything about it, they said cutting down those dry dead trees would be "unnatural" thing to do to nature!!! They even said letting wildfire to burn down those dead trees would be a great thing!!!! Unbelievable!! You may think I am making this up, but I lived and worked in Jasper for years!! I questioned about those dead trees since many years ago, this fire hazard is nothing new to Jasper!!

It was better to go there in the spring when Skytram first opened for the year since the snow covered all of the mountains, making the view far more spectacular than in the summer when the mountains are bare brown earth. Always carry at least one can of bear spray, preferably two, in case one doesn't work or is insufficient, and be prepared to use it at any moment when trekking just outside of town, particularly if there are no other people nearby. Wherever there are no structures in Jasper and Banff, you must have bear spray on hand since wild bears roam everywhere, including near town buildings; they seldom travel into town, but do on occasions when they are desperate for food. A can of air blow horn or an electronic siren is another thing you should bring. Bears are often scared by strange, terrifying sounds. Yelling loudly may also intimidate the bears, never act weak or scared in front of a wild bear, always act as if you're a much more dangerous and powerful animal. Act like a mean wild animal if you ever bump into a wild bear, it is a better chance to scare off the bear, it may be your only choice anyway. Running away may trigger the bear to chase after you, then bear knows you're weak and an easy prey. Carrying a hiking stick is also recommended. Bears seldom attack humans, especially when they make an intimidating noise or hold something potentially harmful. Bears are not as fearless as they appear to be. Dogs are more courageous than bears. This advice is from someone who has lived and worked in Jasper and Banff!! This is same for all bear countries in the world, not just Jasper and Banff. I don't know about polar bears, so this is not advice concerning polar bears.
