The actress Valerie Lemercier did not embrace at all Celine’s character. She is not convincing at all in this role. Celine is much more theatrical and like a diva. Lemercier misses completely this trait of her personality. The choice of actors also bad. She could have found someone much more similar to Mme Dion mother. The actress playing her role does not look from Quebec. Same for Rene. Bad choice of actor. Does not convince. When marion cotillard played Edith Piaf in la vie en rose she literally became Piaf in all her gestures. Lemercier failed to do that. Missed opportunity. She did not work her role enough.

It’s her movie. And she didn’t make this movie to be accurate. Which is why it’s called ALINE and not Céline. Céline’s family reacted very negatively to the film.

I waited a month so I could pay to see it on You Tube. I am so glad I didn't drive anywhere to pay to see it in a theater. It is not a good movie. The girl who tries to play the part can't sing the songs that only Celine performs for us. The English sub title is ok, but doesn't give one enough time to read it. I was really disappointed & hope that one day Celine Dion makes her own movie.
