Not mentioned here, but you need the original usb-c power brick that came with your steam deck. Not just any random usb-c power supply. I tried it with 3 different non steam deck power supplies and it didn't work. It did work with the steam deck power brick.

Ah! Thanks for the info. I know it requires a certain wattage or higher to detect at fully powered. Maybe they were slow chargers. Good info to know regardless in case someone doesn’t have their original cable!
@NerdSnipingBatman11 ай бұрын
@@MikeTheTech one was a 60w charger for a MacBook pro, other was a big 100w battery bank, and the other was a 22w phone charger. So I don't think it's the wattage. There's likely a chip inside the steam deck charger that identifies itself differently than other usb-c chargers.

It did work with a generic Baseus power supply for me. BUT at first try it did not work at all. The touch screen was still not working. Apparently the procedure must be done without the power connected, when plugged in it does not reset.

This worked for me. Thank you! So much. Was updating SteamOS stuff and booted back to Windows and noticed the touchscreen not working I2C HID error. Note: boot into SteamOS on Battery Storage Mode if Dual booting. I litterally touched your like and sub buttons ;) Thanks again. I mainly use my Steam deck for Windows 11 (23H2)

Earned a sub from me friend, Not even sure how long its been messed up as i rarely ever use the touch screen part, Went to reply to someone and noticed it wasnt working, I will add, when you turn it in battery storage mode, the blinking light on the top, wait for it to blink and then go completely off, otherwise you may have to try the steps again. Thank you~

I need some help with my steam deck, there was nothing wrong then I must’ve pressed the wrong button when it was on desktop mode. Now I’m using the pointer on the touchscreen. It just keeps opening blue boxes and won’t work regularly as the pointer was before. Is there a way to fix this? It was working fine until I was downloading something and must’ve pressed the wrong button. Now I moved the cursor with my finger across the touchscreen. It just keeps like opening these blue boxes that can highlight things. How do I stop it from doing that and get it back to normal?

Hello! I had the same problem, on the first try it didn't work, but on the second try it did, and an official charger was not needed as they say in some comments. I had a 67watt charger that is from my Redmi (Xiaomi), thank you very much!

I just got a used one it looks very well cared for but I can't get the touch to work I read it could be due to a screen protector I can't tell if there is one on it or not and Im too scared to try and peel it off what if there is not one on and I wreck my screen.

@@MikeTheTech Yep I did and I tried the fix twice I was just thinking of what other things it could be since mine was used and from what I found online screen protector could be it for some folks and I will try this method again if it works Ill report back thanks.

Are you using the original charger?
@steveclark99343 ай бұрын
@@MikeTheTech Thanks for reaching out yes I I'm using the original charger also there is no screen protector currently obstructing the screen I'm starting to think now that since the shell and buttons were replaced with aftermarket parts that something horrible may have happened during the previous owners modification I even checked to make sure that all the buttons worked correctly at the time of purchase however I totally forgot and overlooked checking testing the touch screen aspect lesson learned I ended up paying $220 I was kind of hoping to try out some Nintendo DS touch screen Scribblenauts to see how that worked on there otherwise I don't suppose I have much other use for the touch screen function I managed to get a Steam Dock and have it hooked up to a CRT to enjoy gaming the way I did back in the 80s and 90s this thing does emulation quite nicely for those decades and for that I'm glad.
