We have 3ft gauge shays that operate in the states as well but it's rare to see anything smaller. That's pretty cool

Notice how it transfers piston power to the wheels? It uses gears rather than directly driving the wheels. Just like the Climax at Puffing Billy. Has enormous torque at low speeds ideal for logging trains.

@@fpk1234 There were a few made in the US by the Climax company one or two were purchased by the Forestry Commission of Victoria and after lying derelict for years was restored by Puffing Billy in Belgrave.
