Hubsan Zino Mini Pro Temperature Monitoring system and new features test

Hubsan Just added the new features to Hubsan Zino Mini Pro 249g ultralight 4k aerial filming drone that I am testing and showing in this video. Now we have an active live Temperature monitoring system, new camera color profiles, image and video has been enhanced, and blueish color in images is fixed together with some more improvements. Ali, I must compliment you on your great reviews. I'm not expert but like the imagery coming from this drone. When you took video footage towards the bridge, the river showed 8 bit colour paletting. Or is this the edit/rendering doing this?

yes brother. but i found jello appears only in certain conditions, like when light source is behind the drone, and you fly side ways. that way props spinning at certain RPM Cast a shadow that sensor starts picking and translates it into jello on the upper half part of footage only. lower half is nice and steady. but if you do same speed same side ways flying facing the light source, there is nothing. i have been analysing the footage for a long time now. and I have found this out. I will do a dedicated test on this one and post a video

it won't. once you are in the air, it does not make any difference if you shoot 100 or 200mbps. but to be very specific, I can do some testing as per my time.

Thanks for the video. I saw in another channel that the battery temperature is reaching way higher than 70°C in standby or even in hovering mode (using a thermal add-on cellphone camera). Do you think that the battery temperature SW reading could be wrong? Another question. In a Brazilian channel there is information about some Zino Mini Pros have a aluminum heatsink instead of plastic one? Would you mind sharing some light over this topic? Thanks 😊

I would trust the internal temperature monitoring system of ZMP rather than some little add on on a phone. i have not heard about aluminum heatsink.

Thanks for this testing! The CPU and battery temperature monitor is a great feature. I wish you would have turned off OA once you were at altitude, however, to show what difference, if any it made to the CPU temperature. Another thing I love is the ability to correct the gimbal horizon on the fly. If you did a rapid yaw or other move that caused a significant gimbal tilt, and then quickly corrected it with the feature, does the controller algorithm then apply a further correction, resulting in gimbal tilt, or does using the feature merely speed up automatic correction of the tilt? Could you do any tests to investigate that behaviour?

Normally the gimbal will correct itself in few seconds, if you do more shots that require turning / yaw often, I would say do not use manual correction. but if you wanna do straight shots and you need quick correction, use this feature, else flying a bit for few seconds gimbal will correct itself. it happens all the time to my DJI OSMO Pocket 2 as well.

Already said that reducing sharpness would reduce moire; would prefer a simple 'sharpness' slider though, so you can decide for yourself what the best setting is for your own specific circumstances. That's pretty common on 'normal' cameras. Kinda weird that the OA went off while flying at 130 meters altitude; was the quad being chased by angy insects or something?

well to be honest, sharpness can be added when editing the video just with few clicks. but having a sharpness slider of course will do the job too. OA goes off during high altitude flight as sensors pick shadows and moire and consider it an obstacle nearby. but it did not stop flying or did not actually brake any time.

Awesome job, Ali! I am very interested in buying this drone. I am a little afraid yet regarding the temperature and obstacle avoidance feature. I've been watching some people in my country (Brazil) that had some accidents because they trusted the obstacle avoidance system, they ran over trees or bushes and destroyed the drone. Also, i noticed that the battery and the charger system fail some times. Can you let Hubsan know about it to try to fix these issues. Also, I guess the YAW (IAW) feature is SO FAST FOR VIDEO SHOOTINGS. I hope the engineers can fix this. It's being a night mare for video workers. These are the only things that make me wonder why f I buy it or not. If we have theses features improved I will change my old 3 MI DRONES 4K AND MY 2 DJI MINI 2 for 3 units of these Hubsan Zino Mini Pro. Thanks again for these videos! 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷

To be honest as a drone pilot, I will trust my judgement, control and skills more than Obstacle avoidance system, no matter how intelligent it is. so people who are running it into trees and other stuff, I would not take that as a negative point here. as a drone pilot and Drone Flight Training specialist, first thing i taught my student pilots was to trust your own judgement and manual control on the drone rather than sensors. know where you are flying, how far you are flying and every detail of objects and stuff in your area before flying. Yaw rate can be adjusted to be slow from app radio control interface settings. its not a big deal. temperature is not an issue, i have done many videos and if you still do not believe, then I can not do any more to convince that temperature is not an issue. this video tells it all. and any one with a good sense can see this drone is not overheating. you want to buy it or not, its still all up to you and your decision. I am just showing everything honest and straight forward so people can make an informed decision. Cheers buddy

that is called Artificial horizon, it shows an aircrafts roll / banking and pitching. when doing waypoints, that window changes to maps.

well in 250g category hubsan is the only one with Obstacle avoidance and good camera sensor. plus features. but to buy or not. i would say choice is all yours. i have shown everything about the drone and that how hubsan is improving it with every new firmware release. haters will hate and talk bad about this because they are scared their beloved brand has bigger competition now. so in the end its all up to you to make an informed decision.

@@alishanmao I here what your saying I took a chance on the fimi x8 2020 and it worked out great. So for what I want it for it will be ideal. I watched all your reviews on this drone and it seems when you point out an issue they seem to have an update for it in no time. Each video it is getting better and better. I flew the x8 mini it flys well but the plastic on the drone is like toy grade it feels cheap but worked well motors aren’t big enough for what they say it will do. Gimbal is always thrown off in any wind. Does the hubsan have a no fly zone lock like DJI my fimi doesn’t and that’s why I like it. I live 2 km from the airport and I can fly in my backyard but my neighbour who has a DJI mavic 2 can not unlock to fly in his yard. Thanks again for such in depth reviews.

Alex, when you talk about a big camera sensor and all the processing power required to real time record and encode H.265 videos, it is natural that a machine will get hotter. Now if you are not a tech person, obviously it will become a negative point for you to laugh at pointlessly. if you are a tech person, you would have known and appreciated that how this drone still keeps temps under control during flight. just like every other wise minded person who did. so to say, you are just making fun of yourself here buddy. no hard feelings.

OR is that something Hubsan will make available in a future release of Firmware ? DJI and Fimi both have a wheel on the RC which makes it very convenient to adjust.

You are always welcome. I will advise to engineer if they can add it to ZMP with wheel and function button for EV to set. right now you can set shutter speed and ISO manually only.

Hi ali, thank you for your review of the Hubsan Mini Pro drone. IMO that temperature monitoring system will be a game changer for those of us that were concerned about excessive heat buildup in the drone. I would still like to see a test showing the temperature of the drone while hovering at 5 meters and recording at 200 mb/s on a hot sunny day. Thanks again for the review.

You are welcome. I think hovering at 5 meter or 10 meters, does not make much difference. as per my testing, (Not recorded or not shown on youtube, I do lot of testing without camera and feedback a lot to hubsan as per my time) no matter your record 100mbps or 200, 5 meters or 10 meters, once you are in the air, it always stays in normal heat level. now those who are claiming that heat is a problem in this drone. I find it hard to believe now, after so much testing of this drone on hot days. cheers

It's possible that setting it to 200mbps will reduce heat, since less compression means less work for the video processor, but of course writing more data to the onboard memory might increase heat there. I'd also like to see a video playback test, comparing CPU % used when playing back 200mbps video and, say, 50mbps. Again, the lower bitrate results in higher compression, which might result in higher CPU usage for playback.
