Without Harriet and Nellie Little House On The Prairie wouldn't of had near the success it came to have. If you hated this two characters with a passion every time they did something evil in the show , It means they played their roles so good down to every detail. Playing the nice person/ character is so damn easy but acting as a villain takes talent that you literally have to think/ feel in order to convince the audience. Harriet/ Nellie were underrated and DESERVE MUCH MORE credit for giving the program ALWAYS a reason for viewers to wanna tune in each and every time.
@holyexperience19765 жыл бұрын
I would say playing villian is challenging for those with decent enough personality, and playing nice character is hard when the actor in real life does not have a nice personality or likes being a bad donkey.
@jawo87544 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say that they were "villans" so much as they were entitled people. Nellie did make a change in the show once she met and married Percival.

Alison was PERFECTLY cast for the part of Nellie Oleson. I can't imagine anyone else portraying this character as flawlessly as she did. Same with Katherine MacGregor as Mrs. Oleson. EASILY two of the best characters on the show. And the fact that she and Melissa Gilbert were close friends in real life, and they could take their jealous rivalry farther than someone who wasn't comfortable going there, made it all the more hilarious. ESPECIALLY when they were fighting over poor Almanzo. lol He was a VERY handsome man in real life, so I understand why they both wanted him.

Alison is so great! I love her sense of humor. She says in her book that she learned to be funny as a defense mechanism. "The Return of Nellie" is a great episode. It not only gave Nellie the opportunity to face off against her "replacement," Nancy, who even had the same hairdo as Nellie when she was younger, but it showed how much the other characters loved her. Sure, they wanted to smack her many times (and so did the audience), but they did love her, and missed her when she went away. Alison Arngrim, aka Nellie's portrayer, had no use for people who pitted Nellie and Nancy against each other, like when they wrote to her, "You're the only true Nellie!" Nancy wasn't Nellie. Yes, there was a general physical resemblance, but Nancy was actually different from Nellie -- she was deeply insecure and always thought people hated her, whereas Nellie thought everyone loved her.

Here I am now a grandma and I finally purchased the entire movie collection set! My kids laughed at me for spending $70 at Wal-Mart on Little House, but it just brings back great memories lol All of the Actors did a fantastic job! Nellie was such a brat Lol😂 she made the show a hit!
@KayBeeGee6 жыл бұрын
I'm going to purchase the entire set as soon as I have the chance. I never liked Nancy. Nellie had good moments before she changed for Percival. She was smiling and cheering and clapping for her father Nels, when Nels accepted Annabelle as his overweight sister in public. Nellie was also more concerned and innocent than Nancy, who was just evil on purpose.

What I admire about her is how she's fought for the rights of Child Stars which I feel is needed now more than ever. According to the Jackie Coogan Law named after the Former Child Star 80% of their Earnings go into Trust but that Law is never if ever enforced. She also talked on Oprah (Where Are They Now?), about Sexual Abuse with Child Stars. She was abused herself but she didn't say anything. Alot of those 1970's Girls went through alot especially anorexia. Jill Whelan (Love Boat), Mary McDonough (Erin The Waltons) and even Susan Dey (Laurie The Partridge Family).
