As of 2012, she has won 27 Grammy Awards from 41 nominations, making her the most awarded living recipient, three behind the most honored artist, classical conductor Sir Georg Solti. She is also the most awarded singer and the most awarded female artist in Grammy history. At the time of her first award, at the 1991 Grammy Awards, she was the second youngest winner ever (currently tied as third youngest).

idk about underrated ... she is tied with quincy jones as most grammy awards received by a person still living. granted more people should know more about her, and the radio should be playing more of these songs, not just once in blue on country stations.

you're absolutely right. I'm aware of her achievements. I think what I meant was there should have been more people know of her and her music. Her music is just beautiful

Up until the Grammys went PC Alison Krauss was the No.1 Female Grammy Artist in History, and when Artistic Ability is concerned today that has still never changed, she is imo the No. 1 Country Artist of all time, Gender Notwithstanding. Alison never got Belt Heavy with her vocals, but her voice was so Beautiful no one cared, it was and still is Brilliant, she also played Fabulous Violin, and she wrote and sang the Pure Country Genre, Blue Grass.

Well I'm a hard core rock and roller and 70's Classic Rock is my music, but I heard Alison Krauss for the first time last night.....and haven't stopped listening. As close to perfection as one can hope to hear. Angelic, oh most definitely. She sings right to your soul. So grateful to have found the videos of this amazing talent! The last live concert I went to was Pearl Jam. The next will be Alison Krauss. Something tells me I won't be disappointed.
@finscreenname5 жыл бұрын
I turned 12 in 1980 so I know what you are saying. Fav band is Boston with the Cars and B-52's close behind and spent a lot of time in the British 80's metal invasion. Liked how rock got dirty after the hair bands with Grunge but then grunge got (lack of a better term) sad. Not dark or scary or in your face or what have you but just sad. "Don't call me Daughter...." not a song I want to bang my head to. Don't get me wrong, I had 10 before anyone I knew and it wasn't on the radio and really liked it until everyone had it and it was on the radio 24/7. Then it was nothing but Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Sound Garden, STP..... and I just stepped away from it and moved to the college stations (99.1 WHFS!!! until they went that way). I herd AKUS for the first time by swapping CD's (when we did that way back when) with a friend in 2003. Always liked how bluegrass sounded so clean and on my stereo it sounded real good but nothing more then just stopping along the dial at a radio station if their was a song on. Well we were at a party and are talking about the host's sound system and I mention how good mine sounds playing bluegrass. Not long and the call goes out to all the guests for a blue grass CD. Nothing came back but a AKUS Live cd. We put it in, no one there but one couple had a clue who AKUS was, we were all just shocked. A double CD from beginning to end and no one had a thought to change it. I didn't leave without a copy. Got it home and a few days later I put it in to give it a try on my system and from that point on the CD's followed me from truck (have a nice system in it also) to house for months. Since then I have been to two AKUS shows (they tour so little) and both (besides being low volume) were better then the CD's they were touring for. Allison is the real deal and the stuff she does with people like Brad Paisley (Whiskey Lullaby is truly a great song) or Robert Plant are really great but there is something about when Allison and Union Station get together. They just compliment each other layer after layer. Not like one just makes the other better but all of them make everyone multiple times better from being already award winning solo players. Again from someone who loves bands like Rush, Muse and Dream Theater, AKUS is about as close to music perfection I have ever herd.

Sometimes a part of you that died a long time ago is stirred to life by the clarion call of angelic music. I don't figure it happens to everyone and certainly not by the same song, but it happens to me and this song is one of them. So you listen to it again, and it sort of happens again, but not like the first time. You get diminishing returns the more you listen, until you realize that it was only a memory, no matter how intense it was, and you sink back into bittersweet melancholy. Such is life.
