Kishiro is one of those artists who DOES NOT GO SOFT WITH AGE!! I think Mars Chronicle is even more messed up than the two previous parts! And it has even fewer good guys. If any! The world building continues to be top notch, however.

GUNNM is my favorite manga of all time, it's a story that through the decades has grown and evolved with its readers, I love seeing someone new slowly become a fan, the fandom welcomes you with open arms I hope you will dedicate reviews to the new chapters.

Danko the sentient Berserker gun was seen originally way back in 1994 on the cover of Battle Angel Alita (Volume 1: Rusty Angel). Unfortunately, it was concept art and we had to wait decades.

I think reading Mars Chronicle now is way better than reading it chapter to chapter, because each chapter has been a "half" chapter, meaning it's 17 pages every month, so it's quite slow. I know many fans where put of with a lot of the story at first, because they expected Alita and Erica getting straight to training Panzer Kunst, and that the whole Baron Muster-story felt out of place in this universe, but considering how big and weird the universe got in Last Order, I think that ship sailed a long time ago, and I've enjoyed all the crazy twists and turns imensly, and I'm happy to hear you've enjoyed it too. Now we just have to wait for the series to get out of hiatus. It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the OVA and the Movie now that you've caught up with the manga.

Alita's true origin in *Mars Chronicle* was anti climatic as Alita questioned her humanity numerous times during *Last Order* when we uncovered the frightening truth about Alita. Is she human? What about her past life as an elite Panzer Kunstler and the acts she committed? Redemption? Read *Last Order* to find out. Let's just say that one Alita received a happy ending that she didn't receive in the true ending of the first series Battle Angel. This Alita in *Mars Chronicle* will bear the sins of the past and soldier on, confronting the ghosts of her past including Frau X aka Erica.

I had been buying Mars Chronicles even tho the story hadnt grabbed me yet BUT the last few volumes are so good. And I keep finding myself going back to the Baron for more vengeance. Last order is my favourite followed by the original and then Mars chronicle. I think Mar chronicle has potential to be high though depending on what direction the story goes

I've been following this GUNNM since 97. I love all 3 series and Last Order is my favorite because of how much it expanded the worldbuilding, Mars chronicle can potentially become number 2.

Rey from Star wars was supposed to have a similar story as Alita. She was supposed to be a regular person. And what she was supposed to grow into was due to her own choices. Her own actions, as opposed to having some "grand destiny and lineage". But then the toxic fans attacked 😔

The difference here is, that Alita always had that grand backstory. There is a PS1 game from 1998, that for all intends and purposes is canon, and even there she had the same origin. So, unlike Star Wars, it was not retconed.

Welcome to Mars, Ryan! I think that Mars Chronicle does better in building characters that Last Order: Baron Muster and Erica are pretty solid for now. It's a shame that it comes out very rarely. I'd like for Desty Nova to be a part of the story too, given how his relationship with Alita evolved. Also, you should check out Eden: It's an Endless World! if you are into futuristic manga (be warned, it's pretty graphic sometimes).

Such a Great Manga it really gives me the same vibes Berserk does the way the characters are written how this Manga shows the philosophy of Living beings like Berserk does and the whole evil concept and Nietzsche references. Erica is such an interesting character and Alitta of course is a struggler like our Man Guts.

Erica is not an uninteresting character, she’s just a clichéd petty villain and that’s all, the plot is just trying to instill pity for her, although she herself is the source of both her own and other people’s problems about the fact that she is indirectly intended and, knowing what she is doing, killed 3 million people (And Yoko in the future only some 450,000) and the fact that she does evil without good reason is simply because her hands are itching, Erica herself poses as no more than an uninteresting evil bitch no more no less

Battle Angel was my first favorite manga, although I only read up to the original Battle Angel Alita series. I haven’t read the sequels mainly because once a saw a page that had Alita with cat paws and ears I got turned away from reading lol for those that have read the sequels, should I continue? I do like that the original series has both an ending if you wanna stop or an option to continue.

If you look at Erica as a character without paying attention to the emphasis of the plot on pity for her, then she is no more than a sadistic sociopath who deprives himself of the chance to be normal, she is just a typical clichéd villain and the plot is trying to instill pity for her and is trying to show her to interesting characters, although she it's not even close.
