I'm thinking of selling my belongings and moving me and my girl from San Diego, CA to Belize. We don't know anybody in Belize. We've never been there only researched online. So we would have, no job no friends and probably only have around $20K. Thinking of buying an affordable piece of land and setting up a little solar tiny home off grid homestead. Then get remote work, start a youtube channel and sell fruits and veggies from our homestead. I'm also a musician and a decent craftsman so maybe can make extra money doing that? Is this a stupid unrealistic pipe dream idea? How difficult would it be to actually pull off? Like maybe in San Ignacio/Cayo, down south in Toledo or up north in Corozal? Thanks for the vids man, appreciate any insights you can give.

Did you ever attempt this ? Speaking from experience you should definitely visit before committing as it will be greatly different from your current soundings. Not even comparable really. I have a German friend with her partner currently living in this area. Doing exactly as you describe. Her partner works remotely and gets paid a normal living German wage which keeps them afloat. Anything is possible if you work for it but for me I would think 20k is a little low to start on if you're going without remote jobs already in place. The land could easily cost you more than that. I'm thinking about something like this far down the road but I'd like to be more prepared and not have to worry about working or $$. Im Canadian.

In the Cayo district? Hoping to be in Belize in September and October to see if it is an area of the world I want to retire to in a few years. Wanting visit during worst part of the year which is rainy season I suspect. What are your impression of the region you are in for living there as opposed to visiting?

Yes Cayo. Great impressions, I was visiting 30 days visa but I wish I could have stayed longer.
