Thanks for highlighting this. I wish this country could just establish its own mining corporation and start putting the nation to work. There's so much resources to not put any of it to good use. The profits would be immense and there's little reason to spend money on just guarding these mineshafts.

I get u,but 90% of the people underground are not south african, these are people who left minerals in their countries came to SA illegally to mine gold which is a criminal offense. I would love to see the minerals of this country benefitting south Africans, but this is not it.

Why Swaziland Namibia and Botswana are not counted among neighbouring countries that are busy digging the inside of South Africa

It’s not as if people from Swaziland and Namibia, Botswana are richer than South Africans - who also aren’t generally to be found doing the zamazama business. There is a tendency to have more empathy for foreign nationals than for fellow South Africans.

Brilliant Journalism. A complex, unfortunate, historical, socio - economic and sensitive issue. How can this be dealth with? is a trillion dollar question. Any and Every intervention seems futile and in vane. I use to passby these Zama Zamas years ago asking myself why he goverment is not dealing with this, but now i see how complex the issue this is. I know it can easily look like crime at all sides, foreigners, guns and all but if you look at it for a moment its over complicated. Abandoned, unrehabiliated , available labyrinths of mines with unimaginable wealth. Greedy, mining tycoons with money, wealth hungry sydicates with guns, opportunists of all sorts, desparate unemployed, SA and foreginers and an overwhelemd goverment with a hot potato given them by mine owners left gapping holes and complex networks underground with noone to finance to take care of them, its crazy.

☪ It was narrated from 'Imran bin Husain that: A man freed six slaves of his when he was dying, and he did not have any wealth 💰apart from them. News of that reached the Prophet and he was angry 😡about that. He said: "I was thinking of not offering the funeral prayer for him." Then he called the slaves and divided them into three groups. He cast lost among them, then freed two and left four as slaves.
