This song shaped my life man. Ever since I first played FlatOut2. I heard it the first time ever I opened flatout2 and immidietly fell in love with the song I was frozen I just heard the music and nothing else no thoughts of the outside world. Just the music is in existence. When I listen to this song I think clearly it's like I become wiser everything is more clear. The lyrics amaze me and gets me going whenever I am close to giving up I just listen to this song and get back on track. Such good times playing FlatOut2 if it weren't for that game I would not have heard this song and my life would definitely either be over or be in complete shame. Thank you FlatOut2 and Alkaline Trio.

“Drive yourself insane tonight and it’s not so far away, because I filled up your tank earlier today” is probably the most sarcastic sounding lyric ever. At the same time they recognize the problem is them, so it’s a twist on the “women be crazy” lyricism

For more upbeat music with dark lyrics, check out Off With Their Heads. Any song really, but particularly "Fuck This I'm Out," "Clear the Air," "Nightlife," etc.

Traveling theme they did a cover of moving right along that I love... not necessarily fit the channel recommend but any fans reading comments should like it.

Can’t go wrong with any of Alk3’s first three albums. I’d say if you want another song indicative of their sound, “Radio” is a good choice. I can still listen to “Goddamnit!” all the way through, no skips after 20+ years.

Upbeat with dark lyrics sums up Alk3 very well. They are one of my all time favorite bands and with two different singers you a wide variety of songs. “Cringe” would be another great song to do since it’s the first song on the first album. I also love the song “Emma”, since that one has Dan singing (former bass player of Slapstick)

Love Alkaline Trio. Hiding dark lyrics in happy sounding songs is kinda their deal.

My friend Peter , as you were , keep ‘em coming . 3 songs from 3 different albums all good . I love their first few albums the most . Little more punk and just raw energy

Hell yeah guys! Super solid ratings and review. Two 8s this month too! I think Chuck is actually pretty spot on with the lyrics. For me, A3 are the modern punk masters of pairing pop with dark lyrics. They’re great at using metaphor and word play too. Never really thought about a Ramones influence on their sound, but I can totally see it. To fill in the gaps with the theme this month, A3 features Dan Andriano on bass (from Slapstick and The Broadways) and Derek Grant on drums (from the Suicide Machines). Dan splits vocal duties with Matt Skiba (who famously filled in for Tom in Blink-182) and sings the “drive yourself insane…filled up your tank…” part along with backing on the “yeahs”.

Just a heads up it’s a different Dan in the Broadways. Dan Andriano was in Tuesday after slapstick broke up

@@chops5996 Derp…you’re 1000% right. My brain is only half functioning today. Totally meant Tuesday and not The Broadways.

You should check out their earlier stuff. Straight forward punk shit. “Cringe” or “cop” are bangers.

Old school reasons is probably my favorite. Or burn from this album

So the bass player from trio and the singer of the 'drive yourself' part is also the bass player of slapstick

Crimson is still one of my favorite albums, I saw them a few times in the early 2K. Still a punk kid at heart (and mind). Also, best live band ever!
