The reason Katakuri's fruit is called a special paramecia is because it EMULATES the inatangibility of a logia, but not perfectly so. Katakuri is able to morph his body at will, and in conjunction with his observation haki, this creates the illusion that he can't be hit. The big difference is that Katakuri must be aware and actively morph his body in order to dodge attacks. Logias can only be damaged by haki, seastone or their natural counter element (water vs sand, rubber vs lightning, magma vs fire). This means that logia users can be caught off guard by ordinary attacks and their bodies will simply reform after being hit, while Katakuri (if caught off guard) would be hit just like any other person. All of this is to say that Katakuri's skill is what makes the mochi-mochi no mi so powerful, a weaker user would make the fruit look underwhelming in comparison.

But he is Stil able to transform into mochi. This transformation into an element is usually only reserved for logia users. That’s why he is a special Paramecia. Magellan and Galdino can produce poison and wax but can’t transform into it! That the big difference 🙌🏼 But I am with you. His Devil fruit usuage is exceptional 🙏🏼

He said body AND mind, kaidos body obviously caught up but in japanese mythology a dragon symbolizes being at the top and always striving to win, while we have been shown that kaido wants to die a glorious death and is chasing joyboy to finally meet his defeat. Yamato is definitely awakened since her fruit is the nicknamed the Protective Deity of Wano, and Yamato did exactly that with her actions for decades.

Yamato has the same awakened look as Luffy & Rob Lucci, so I would throw Yamato in that bunch as well. Kaido also looks somewhat awakened with his black hair and the flames around his shoulders when he is in Dragon form, on top of his overall control of his Devil Fruit. Then there is Kaku, who also has that signature flame around his shoulders. So I think there are 9 individuals we can say for sure are awakened apart from the Jailers at Impel Down. Kaido was not awakened. He hoped to fight an awakened user, as it is usually near death that causes the awakening. Kaido needed a strong opponent to bring him to that point, but he failed as Luffy succeeded.
