It's also unique to star wars fans. They seem to like to eat their own. Instead of discussing this franchise we love, you're having me defend my right to discuss the subject. That's kind of weird. Totally agree with Palpatine being number 1. Sure Vader is more iconic but the fact that Palpatine managed to manipulate everyone, turn Anakin to the dark side, take down the republic and create the Empire is so admrable and Ian McDiarmid sells every scene that he is in

He doesn’t need a film. Just like Lando doesn’t need a series. Just because we like a character doesn’t mean they need their own film. Maul wouldn’t work as an effective protagonist. Maybe a book or a comic run or even possibly, a limited time series. Maybe 4 hour-long episodes. But he doesn’t deserve a film.

The biggest myth in the star wars fandom is that JJ Abrams had a plan for Snoke. He didn't have a plan for anything after the Force Awakens, it wasn't (originally) his job to decide any of that. A few years back there was a Daisy Ridley interview where she said during the filming of The Force Awakens, they didn't know who Rey was the daughter of and were still floating around ideas. That's pretty definitive proof that the script for TFA didn't plan for his vision to be carried over to a sequel and that he had no vision, he just set up questions for other people to answer and had none of his own. His idea for Snoke wasn't anything deeper or more interesting than "this trilogy's Palpatine". I for one was glad he died in the 2nd movie, because it gave us hope that the finale couldn't just be a ROTJ ripoff where Kylo turns to the light and sacrifices himself at the end to save Rey from his sith master. But alas, JJ in his lack of creativity managed to make that happen anyway... As for Snoke's death in the Last Jedi, that didn't have to be the end to his story. There are so many interesting avenues that could have been explored. First, he didn't even have to stay dead. Maul survived being cut in half too, and Solo, which came out after TLJ showed general audiences who haven't seen the clone wars that it's possible for sith to survive bisection. Another really interesting direction would have had him be kinda like Omni Man - an warrior from another galaxy sent to the main Star Wars one to take it over for his race's intergalactic empire, so Snoke's death and failure to take over the Galaxy internally could result in the even bigger threat of his intergalactic Empire invading with military force. That would be a natural way for Kylo's First Order and Resistance to fight alongside each other. Maybe they could have even tied the whole saga together by making Snoke an agent of the Old Republic's Sith Empire that exiled to a different Galaxy and had rebuilt over the millennia to return, and have them to blame for the resurgence of the sith with Plagueis & Palpatine prior to The Phantom Menace

Count Dooku is my all time favorite villain in Star Wars as he's the only one who truly wanted to overthrow Palpatine all times, and by any means, even if that means having Obi-Wan join, all while working for him. A true Sith. Dooku also has the whole droid army, Jango, and Grevious under his control. GOAT'd.

Hey, Sean. Get ready for an essay 😂 Oddly enough, I thought the progression from Anakin to Darth Vader in ROTS was done very well. Each scene he was in, he got more and more deep until it was time for him to make his decision between Mace and Sidious. When he was deemed Darth Vader by Sidious, he was lost. Which then led to him destroying the future generation of Jedi, so him and Padme could rule the empire with Sidious and their kids. But when he thought Obi-Wan turned Padme against him, he became not only egotistical and lost, but he also became angry. He was ready to kill Obi-Wan for his "betrayal" until Obi-Wan said he loved him. That look Anakin gave him was a cry for help because Obi-Wan actually saying he loved him was a big deal and made him realize he wasn't fighting for his own personal gain. That he was fighting for the greater good because fighting Anakin hurt him. But then Anakin got burned and Obi-Wan left him for dead. Yet another betrayal. It wasn't until someone else (Luke) showed him genuine love by not killing him when he could've that he was able to be redeemed and go back to the light side of the force. That's how I interpret it at least. But I can still see why some may'be preferred a different approach

I think you’re a little harsh on Hux if I’m honest. Like sure he wasn’t particularly fleshed out and a bit one-dimensional and not particularly menacing (other than his Starkiller speech), but clearly we know of some of his motivations, as it’s obvious from all three movies that his ultimate motivation is climbing the ranks of the First Order and ultimately ascending to power through those means.

Look what Star Wars became under her leadership. She's the one single-handedly responsible for how disjointed the sequel trilogy is; it was HER executive idea to have each film done by a different director and screenwriting team who would write each film along the way; she somehow thought that it would create a more organic story than by having a road map drawn out beforehand. Tarkin is great, but he feels like a poor man’s Thrawn at this point. Thrawn was a genius, and had Ezra not pulled the ultimate wild card on him that was completely unpredictable, I see no reason why he wouldn’t have defeated the Rebels on his own.
