Ya, this shit can just eat everything. 90% of somewhat magic related boss attacks - all gonna vaporize. Radahn's meteors, Maliketh's red waves, literally every single Rellana's and Loretta's range attack, Elden Beast's elden stars (correct me if I'm wrong, I don't remember this one 100%), Midra's frenzied flame attacks...and this is only what came to my mind at the moment.

7:46 Miquella didn't make the Golden Order Incantions except for the Rings of Light ones, which were gifted to Radagon by Miquella, and were then adopted by Radagon into his Golden Order, the implication being that Multilayered Ring of Light was created afterward by servants of Miquella instead. That being said Miquella should've gotten wayyyyy more incantations, I really wish we got one that buffed a melee weapon into having the beams of light after a swing like Radahn gets from Miquella on his second phase!!!

Hello, I am a local Black Flame missionary and I would like to tell you about the combination of Black Flame Ritual + Phantom Slash AoW. It's disgusting. Against PvE it prevents most enemies from jumping you. PvP the other players can't see your Phantom Slash ghost because he blends in with the flames. Chuck on Blackflame Blade which means your lunge with PS will trigger blackflame too. :)

Back before I learned to not trust Rusty's rankings, I saw him put Rykard's Rancor as like the 15th best spell in the game and was so confused when it did terrible damage even to enemies weak to fire. On a separate note, I think spells are less op than people make them out to be. With a few exceptions, projectile ashes of war are the real broken stuff, being much easier to deal good damage with and not requiring a catalyst. I think a solid 80% of basic projectile sorceries are just worse than ice spear. Most melee range spells (again with a few exceptions like catch flame and slicer) are worse than just hitting an enemy with a melee weapon.

Rykard rancor can do some stupid dmg (try it on the undead dragons in the dlc) but yeah its pretty inconsistent unfortunately

if you compare Rusty's rankings to Youwy's rankings you will notice they are very similar for the most part... sure there will be some differences of opinion on some spells and weapons, but, overall, they are BOTH very good at ranking things... not to mention Rusty has a sense of humor, Youwy does not... and humor goes a long way in making a video ENTERTAINING.. Rusty is very trustworthy in his ranking, and so is Youwy... when it comes to souls games, these two guys are the gold standard...

6:28 as a thorn sorcery enjoyer, I will forever lament the patch that fixed the bug that let you chain spells. It was so broken, but also so awesome for Briars of sin as it let you chain it from another spell into the second level cast of the spell, so you could cast punishment, then chain into sin when an enemy got closer to you. It worked so well that I didn't even think it was unintended. never forget.

As a fellow briar enjoyer I agree, i also would like to note that, as neat as they are, im not a fan of the dlc thorn sorceries. One is a gimmick which I can forgive since its unique, but unimpenerable thorns just invalidates brairs of punishment, and i hate that design wise, make it serve a unique purpose so that all spells have their own purpose and function

I play a faith/int character, Golden Order Fundamentalism is my go to, discus, triple rings, layered and Radagon’s. Thing is, while I know this is a PVE list, Law of Regression wreaks havoc on enemy morale in PVP. Very, very useful tool.

Combiing bloodflame talons into furious blades of ansbach is a better idea than just one or the other. You get more damage than two talons, and more build up than fully charged furious blades while being faster than both respectively

I disagree with death sorceries being bad. Ancient death rancor staggers the shit out of enemies, which allows you combo it with slow spells like ghostflame explosion or any spell that requires enemy to stand still, like spira or tibia summons. And ghostflame explosion knocks enemies down, and can hit them through walls, this spell slaps.

In all seriousness though, that benefit only applies to the few humanoid bosses that can even be staggered to begin with. Some of the spells aren't too bad, like mid, the rest are shit. Also Spira is kinda ass as well.

It hurts me that the Death sorceries wound up so terrible, especially because they are the spooky spell niche Dark had in the DS series. Specializing in dark spells was consistently a fun experience (and actually broken in DS1) with great visual flair, while the only decent Death spell isn't even really a Death spell and throws 8's made of wind at people.

OMG Youwy! You really don't know the power of Ancient Death Rancor do you? By spamming it you can easily perma-stunlock and kill one of the hardest bosses in the game: Alecto, Black Knife Ringleader. No need to dodge even a single time. (It's the boss which gives you the Black Knife Tiche Ashes). And if you use Mimic-tier and give it this spell you'll stun-lock malenia until the 2. phase, use comet azur when she does the transition and swap back to spamming ancient death rancor a few more times to kill Malenia even at NG+7. This spell MASSIVELY stuns most if not ALL medium sized enemies and bosses. It's also my go-to spell for dealing with enemies that dodge projectiles. This spell has saved me more times than any other spell or strategy in the game, truly an S-tier Spell, it's earned a permanent spot in my memory slots.

Magma spells C tier, seriously? They require little faith, so there is no problem to use them in a intelligence build. They also deal very high damage and consume little enough to use a lusat staff, which will make them even stronger. And I completely disagree with the position of dragon spells, they are extremely slow, their speed cannot be increased, they consume an indecent amount of FP.

y’know; after everything is done now, I kinda still like sorcery/miracle/hexes/pyromancy more than the 2 spell schools with 20 or so unloved spell children. We never could escape that feeling of 3-4 teams working on spells; where some were making all the really good stuff, and the others were making aspect of the crucible: bloom.

You could have made it worth something if you had structured the video so that the schools existed in a vacuum and concentrated on what options are available to each school and how well they synergize with each other. Would have also been really cool if you had included an recomendation of an arnament (or a summon) that would compliment a schools playstyle.
