My theory is that Yuji is a descendant of Sukunas clan (whatever that clan was). After Sukuna was defeated I bet his clan was destroyed and disbanded, but a few escaped and basically kept that family line going. That may also be why Yuji can handle Sukuna inside him!

I feel like maki without a doubt could become as strong as toji since their basically the same except toji is just stronger and more trained but maki could totally reach that level. After all megumi even said toji is like a fully realized maki. And megumi could even surpass gojo according to gojo.

Toji is actually a more extreme version of Maki. Their heavenly restrictions are practically the same, but Maki's heavenly restriction takes away her cursed technique and reduces her cursed energy levels to that of a normal person, in exchange for physical prowess. Toji's on the other hand, took away ALL of his cursed energy, which makes him the only human so far that had zero cursed energy. Even normal people have a small amount of cursed energy. In exchange for that, he gained INSANE superhuman strength and his five senses were sharpened to the point that he could sense cursed spirits, even without cursed energy. While it is possible for Maki to reach Toji's level, it's highly unlikely because their heavenly restrictions are different

Choso refers to him as his brother and Noritoshi Kamo (past sorcerer) was likely possessed by kenjaku, shown by the stitches on his head and in the manga we see a brief flashback of Yujis childhood with his dad holding him and what appears to be his Mum who has the stitches on her head, meaning she’s was possessed by Kenjaku
