All Aboard: Train #2 Departing Los Angeles, CA to Houston, TX

Get a glimpse of what Union Station looks like on the inside and outside. While you are waiting on your train to depart, eat at the TRAXX Restaurant which serves lunch and dinner or have a drink at the TRAXX Bar. Amtrak offers upper and lower spacious seating and sleep cars for an extra fee. You can also enjoy a hot breakfast, lunch and dinner with reservations in the Amtrak dining car or snacks at your convenience. This is a very scenic trip of the mountains with frequent stops in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. Although the trip is normally 36 hours, there can be delays in departure and arrivals up to 3 hours. The cost of this one-way trip averages $99 - $130 based on discounts applied and advance purchase.

Food is expensive but taste okay. You can bring your own snaks, drinks, and sandwiches to save on cost. Also, they don't stop at areas you can go and buy food. You stop just long enough to smoke.The ride was pleasant. However, there were delays because of outside sources. Staff were friendly and the facilities were kept clean. Traveling alone, was glad that staff were always visible for any assistance.
