I loved this and can’t wait for season 2! I have also watched Buffy about a million times since 1996 (!) so super into this. Also, this was for me a perfect one to just listen too (w/o visual triggers) so it really helped me get through a migraine yesterday. Thank you!

I was just thinking you can tell so much by a person depending on which team~ they’re on out of bangel or spuffy. it’s rare that it’s almost a perfect split down the middle in terms of audience preference when there usually is a massive favourite in these famous love triangles. would love to hear you talk about the positives and negatives of both pairings & what they say on a larger scale about love and growth. also, spuffy forever tbh 💕

This is absolutely true and something very interesting to talk about. I took a screenshot of your comment. After I get through the 7 seasons, I'll be making one or more epilogue-y videos where I talk about things like this. I used to be die-hard Spuffy, but I've softened along the years. So that's why I'm willing to open that can of worms now. There was a time I could NOT entertain any thoughts of Bangel. But I'm open to all opinions now.

Oh the wars that raged back in the day over Bangel vs. Spuffy lol! I absolutely adored being along for the Angel ride and watching it unfold, and it definitely has my romantic heart. The saddest episode in the entire ‘verse in regards to them is actually an Angel one, if you’re into the show you know the one. However, I felt it perfectly portrayed the whole “time and place” and Buffy went on to grow, mature, and need more from a partner than what Angel could give her. I definitely feel it when he comes back around on occasion and they are still connected on a deeper level than most can ever fathom or experience. I never really understood why there was so much hatred for either. The show mirrors real life so well, minus the obvious, that it shouldn’t be such a foreign concept that she needed both of them at different times in her life. If she hadn’t Bangeled she wouldn’t have been able to Spuffy.😂 (always hated both of those name mashups, lol) so I never got into the couples wars much because I was too busy seeing both relationships for the strengths and weaknesses each had. Ultimately, I feel she ended up where she should have. I admire you taking this task on, because I’d skip around so much I’d end up completely rambling and not making any cohesive sense lmao! I am totally, totally here for it. ❤️

@@Emdooey hahaha, you genuinely made me laugh out loud with that one line, which I won't repeat because of the mashups. And yes, you're completely right. I think I was too young and obsessed before, but in growing up I realised how both of these relationships are beautiful and necessary. And I realised how that first love just hits different, there's no comparing it to anything. So yeah, I look forward to opening that can of worms when the time comes :)

@@ASMRvelous It will be epic and I can’t wait to see that one! It seems in a lot of cases age plays a factor too. I saw a common theme of age when discussing it with others, anyway. I could definitely have seen myself rooting for Buffy and Angel above all else if I had been younger when I first watched it, but I was in my late 20s when I first saw it. The posts I found most interesting were the ones from people who had changed their minds and why. It almost always switched from worshipping her and Angel to feeling Spike was better for her, rarely the other way around. I’m sure people better than I at psychology could explain it but I can see it when you take into consideration how idealistic we are when young and romance is everything. After life hits it can really influence how you see things!

He is a funny guy, and maybe he was in his role, but I thought the actor is not really different from the character Xander. He did the Snoopy dance with a very young fan (toddler) and made an awkward sex joke, gegh. But erm, I hope I don't spoil it by mentioning her name...do you know who they really hate in the US? Dawn. They were showing two episodes where Dawn was present and the people were booing every time she appeared.

So at Comic-Con I looked around at all the people booing her, but they just gave me a cheeky look back: what are you looking at! Really, men and women in their 30s....come on. Xander was my least favorite character of the series up till the moment he made 'evil Willow' cry and realising what she was doing. After that, I kind-a liked him. I am so disappointed that I JUST found out about your channel. Jubilee Whispers mentioned your channel, and I absolutely love your soft touch videos. And then I saw you had an entire video on Buffy, and were a fellow Scoobie, and I was sold! 😊😊😊 Rewatched Buffy AND Angel 3 times last year over quarantine. Better late than never though :), but I'm very glad you made it over. I'm lucky to have a good amount of Scoobies among my viewers, but in this case it really is the more the merrier. I absolutely love Buffy, it's my all-time favourite show. You'll be glad to know that this video is the first in a series, which will tackle each season in the same format. Season 2 will be posted next week! I've only seen Angel twice, but Illyria is also my favourite character of Angel. For Buffy it's harder for me to pick an overall favourite, but Spike is definitely in the top three. I also love Anya and Tara so, so much and Faith has a special place in my heart as well.

started up buffy again a while ago but then netflix removed it in my country. i think it's on prime now?? excited for your series!! i used to watch this every day when i was like 8-10 and we had two channels on our remoteless-tv. a news channel, the chanel that tells you all the channels, and an infomercial channel. the news channel would sometimes play game shows, the simpsons, buffy and xena 😊

Strongly recommend catching BtVS! The crossover episodes hit so much harder when you know the backstory!! It’s cheesy while it’s still finding it’s feet but it is sooooo worth the time and effort as a whole. You will cringe pretty hard at David Boreanaz’ acting in the beginning but he was just a baby back then lol. Great show.

Oh no you DIDN’T!!! BtVS AND ASMR??? I’m so conflicted lol!!!! Love love love that show. I introduced and watched it with my (adult) niece around 15 years ago and had SO much fun. Currently just started it with her now 11 year old daughter. Never get tired of it. I have so much to say about it ha. I belonged to so many message boards back in the day discussing it in-depth and have such fond memories.

@@ASMRvelous how cool! My old stomping grounds was the IMDb board for Buffy. Before that I was on an FX board when they were showing it and that’s how I initially got into it. Then FX stopped showing it and shut down their MB for it and I ended up on IMDb. Stayed there until they shut down their boards in February of ‘17. I’m still super salty about that lol. BtVS was the only show I ever read fanfic on, too. My absolute favorite was A Raising in the Sun by Barb C. I wonder if it’s still around. 🤔 I went through so much horribly written fanfic before finding that one that I told myself I’d never do it again for any other show….and I haven’t 😂. It was also my first DVD series purchase and I still have them. And Angel. Never getting rid of them, either. I just love the show that much!😍

@@Emdooey I just checked and it's on AO3 (An archive of our own). That's the place to be now for fanfiction. They've got it all, old and new. After Buffy ended and the fanfic well starting drying up I migrated to Supernatural. And I still read Supernatural fanfiction on occasion. Though I imagine that well will start running dry now as well since that show has finally ended. At first it is a lot of sifting through garbage, but once you've got a list of fav authors, it's just the best escape. Anyway, I remember being super upset about the IMDB message boards closing. But in hindsight there was just so much negativity on there, so I get it and my IMDB experience is much calmer now, haha. I still use it almost daily. This most recent Buffy re-watch I read the IMDB trivia for every single episode. And doing this actually also gave me new insight into the Buffy/Angel relationship

@@ElinorFitzgerald Yes, yes, 100% yes to everything you just said. The suspense ruins the experience for me. It just distracts me from the things I really enjoy about media. It's funny because people often assume I like horror as a genre because I love Buffy and Supernatural, but I DON'T, at ALL. Because in horror movies, very often, when you take away the suspense and shock effect, there's nothing left. Not always, but often.

@@ASMRvelous Agreed! His characters jealousy, specially when it came to Buffy, always got in the way of any true growth throughout the series. And it was difficult to feel sorry for the guy when something crappy did happen!

I have a soft spot for season 1 Angel, but he lost me after that unfortunately. I don't read the books or comics. Basically I'm very happy with how they ended everything and I don't want to ruin that. Some things I've read over the years about the canon comics confirmed that I really shouldn't read them.
