These were the cars that as a 12 year old I fell in love with Corvettes.

Enjoy your fact filled videos! I am originally from Sarasota and I'm surprised by all the new channels and folks I see on KZbin... it was such a quiet and relatively unknown location in the 50's through 70's when I grew up there!

Memory lane!! Drove my first Vette ever in 1985. Smoked T-top 81 and I was hooked. We've come a long way since those days.

Lyle - Enjoy your videos. The C3 and C4 Special Edition videos hit close to home as I have a 1978 Silver Anniversary model and a 1993 40th Anniversary model. Enjoy them both immensely.

I am trying to research if all 1977's came with luggage rack/t-top holders. Any ideas? Going to start binging your vids! Thanks and Peace.

Hi Rea Beth! Of the 49213 Corvettes made in 1977, only 16680 had the optional luggage rack/roof panel rack. :) Lyle

Great video Lyle, I remember the 78 Pace Car when I finished high school. Dad bought me a 78 Silver Anniversary Corvette used from Champion Chevrolet in 1981. We did stop at Daniel Chevrolet in 1981, they had in the showroom in the wrapper a new 78 Indy Pace Car they had in storage for two years for sale at twice the original window sticker price, $26,000. Would you believe they had a 1969 red 427 Corvette convertible used for sale and they were willing to trade me for the 78 Silver Anniversary and offered me $2500 cash back. Undervalued at the time. Just bought a 73 Corvette Convertible, can't believe how superior the build quality is compared to the 78 and 79s.

Great video Lyle ! Years ago wasn't a fan of the '78 Pace with all the decals on the side, now I'm loving it. Actually looking for one now that needs a little work. Had an '82 collector, very nice too. Lyle keep those videos coming !

Some 82 non collector cars received hatch windows via a third party company that GM subsequently bought. That same company did the collector car hatches under the GM label. Any more info on that?
@Mazak233 жыл бұрын
Cars & Concepts was the company that did their first hatchback conversion on a 1979 Corvette. You’re right, Chevy saw that and bought the company’s plans and blueprints to incorporate the hatch into production cars.

The Vin on my 82 came back as a collector edition but doesn't have any of the features. It's charcoal gray and the rear window doesn't open. I drove to it to prom I the early 90s same as my brother and cousin a few years before so I know is all original but not a collectors. Any ideas?

I am afraid You forgot about Bowling Green opening celebration 1981 series...but it was also just colour option as the 1978 Anniversary was.
@csvette3 жыл бұрын
Petr, I am unaware of any special celebratory paint codes in '81...they split production between the two plants that year and two-tone cars (other than the first 25) were all made in the new plant at Bowling green. I'd be interested to learn more about the option you are talking about--it isn't in any of my knowledge books. Lyle
@petrmasek63533 жыл бұрын
@@csvette Hi Lyle, Thanks for Your reaction. To be honest, I am not sure if it was or wasn´t "special edition", but poster with these two-tone Corvettes from 1981 is talking about this colour combination "to celebrate start of the Bowling Green production". Maybe it is not a poster, but one list in 1981 catalogue, who knows.
