makes perfect sense to me, in english we have many phrases like this also. the more i learn russian the more i learn to appreciate my native language too and see the similarities and differences, its fascinating. It's funny how we take for granted these subtle and complex understandings we have in our native languages, until you try to break them down and explain them to people who don't know it, and realize how crazy it really is ;). You are making some of the best Russian language videos I've ever seen on youtube, im surprised they dont have more views. They are very helpful. Thank You :)

Да-ладно is interesting, and very useful. In the interest of satisfying your curiosity, we do, in fact, also have a word in English whose meaning will change based on the emotion behind it. I can't write it here, because, unlike да-ладно, it's a vulgar word. Here's a hint: it begins with the letter f. Great video, keep 'em coming!

Thanks for this amazing video! Really helpful! :) In English, I've decided to understand the phrase ДА ЛАДНО as "no way!" - which you can use it negatively or positively. As in English, ДА ЛАДНО appears to be a "filler" word where the meaning is placed not on the spoken words themselves but the manner of speaking. I might be completely wrong but very help video nonetheless! Keep up the good work! ;-)

So 'да ладно' plus the 'emotion given via the body', gives the result meaning of the phrase. [Да ладно - Yes | alright, okay, I agree] 1. In disbelief (believing the person, but the fact is unusual) 2. "stop joking!" (not believing the person, nor the facts) 3. Yes, oke (agreeing) 4. Whatever (indifference)
