ей and ней are the same thing, but you use ней after a preposition. Toбой and тобою are also the same except тобою is used in literature, poems etc.

Класть and Положить literally means to lay something down Класть деньги в банк - to put money in a bank Положить слой краски - to put a layer of paint These are just different forms of the same word basically, because there are no words покласть or покладите. Here we use prefix по- when we talk about a one-time action. When something is put repetitively, you use the one without prefix. Ставить means to put something in a standing / vertical position, or make it stand, if an object can't be standing this word can't be used. The rule about the prefix is basically the same as with the previous word. Поставь машину за углом. - Park the car around the corner. Correct: Положи ложки на стол. - Put the spoons on the table. Incorrect: Поставь ложки на стол. (This will work only if the spoons are inside a glass for example, or smth else that is vertical) Correct: Поставь чайник на стол. - Put the teapot on the table. Incorrect: Положи чайник на стол. (This one implies you put it on the side) There's also word Вставить (Вставлять) - it is used when something gets put inside a hole, like a cabinet drawer for example.

давно -- a long time ago (not happening now). долго -- for a long time (still happening).
