I first heard this song when I was walking along Bournemouth beach on my walkman (remember them?) when it first charted exactly 28 years ago in 1988. It was a beautiful warm summer's day, once heard, never forgotten. A year later I saw them live at London Hammersmith Odeon and after they performed 'Pearl Fishermen', there wasn't a dry eye in the house.

Started out as a backing singer for The Mission. Amazing voice. Top of the Pops invited them back for a second attempt as TOTP messed up the playback track on the first week. She sang it live on the 2nd attempt and its so much better for it.

One of those 'feelgood' moments. After the 'car crash' the week before they were left high and dry because a faulty tape machine meant they couldn't hear the backing track to mime to it. So when TOTP invited them back, there was only ever gonna be one option - perform it live.
