I couldn't disagree more. This song came out in 1980 by which time the following had already happened 1930s: One of the earliest documented instances of gender confirmation surgery is performed by Dr Magnus Hirschfeld, a German doctor renowned for his pioneering efforts in transgender healthcare. 1950s: Denmark’s Dr Christian Hamburger makes a historic mark by performing the first gender confirmation surgery on American soil. 1965: The United Kingdom witnesses its first instance of gender confirmation surgery, marking an important milestone in its healthcare history. 1960s-1970s: A period of heightened controversy as medical treatments catering to transgender individuals often face criticism and are largely perceived as experimental. 1975: Amsterdam becomes home to Europe’s first clinic dedicated to transgender healthcare, signifying progress in this field. 1979: The World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) is established, offering crucial guidelines and recommendations for the medical treatment of transgender individuals. Just because *you* didn't know it was happening, doesn't mean it wasn't happening.

@@Spiklething All my comments to you get taken down. I have seen first hand what happens to a mixed up young man who has had the op and is on hormone treatment and has tried to commit suicide at least four times, he is my nephew! Anyway you obviously know an awful lot about it so I dare say you also one of the poor mixed up creatures. Enjoy the rest of your life.

Nuneaton's greatest ever. I worked and went out in Cov at the time. Centre of the universe then with TwoTone etc. This was, and still is an absolute classic. Loved it then and now. You're never too old to appreciate great music. The times when the NF were chased off the streets of Cov. A great city.

There's so much to love about this track. Most of it's been said already, but just let me say this, as a drummer - I love the way the drummer lays down that groove and STAYS OUT OF THE WAY !! Let me tell you, it's so hard to do.

Four years ago we were on holiday in Devon n went shopping in Paignton.. there was a busker on Victoria St who was playing this.. it was sublime n without fault.. i was stunned n had to stand n listen it thru....to walk past would have been both ignorant n disrepectful.. even my kids enjoyed it.. hopefully when return in 2019 he will be there.. i will shake his hand an thank him.

Not one of the best but THE ABSOLUTE BEST sax solo in the history of the world, or at least thats my opinion, hope ya'll agree ! Oh yeah and for all you lovers of the saxophone there is also a brilliant solo on the sopprano sax at the end of sting's an englishman in new york, check it out you'll be glad you did.

BAKER STREET IS UP THERE! AT THE TOP! BUT THIS GOES THAT 1 STEP FARTHER! I play guitar an expressive instrument yes! But this takes things to another level! the lyrics Simple but eveyone been there, Hazel's delivery is fragile, emotive, passionate and flawless! but the sax is AWESOME! A WHISPER TO A SCREAM THE SLURS FROM 1 NOTE TO THE NEXT, BUT ITS THOSE PAUSES IN THE ORIGINAL RECORDING THAT NAILS IT! 1 AMAZING SONG! PERFORMED TO PERFECTION!

I was working in a garage back in the early eighties and used to listen to this on Radio 1 three or four times a day, and I used to stop what i was doing until it had finished. The sax is always so hypnotising. 40 years later, and it is still so hypnotising. Super awesome doesn't even cover it !!

Perhaps you are aware of this already??? Wesley Magoogan - sax on Will You In the 1980 punk film Breaking Glass, a succession of knowing glances suggest that there might be more to the relationship between Hazel O’Connor (Kate) and Phil Daniels (Danny) than that of manager and singer. Simmering emotions finally erupt when - her voice all a tremor - Hazel starts to sing: “It’s getting kinda late now/ I wonder if you’ll stay now, stay now, stay now, stay now/ Or will you just politely say goodnight?” A saxophone plays, and the pair’s mutual affection becomes clear. That sax solo was played by Wesley Magoogan, who played in O’Connor’s band Megahype as life imitated art and the actor-playing-singer became a bona fide singing superstar with several hits including Will You. Cruelly, after he later played with the Beat and Joan Armatrading, Magoogan’s magic fingers were injured in an accident with a circular saw, a harsh fate for someone whose most famous moment moved people around the world to tears.
