I absolutely love the Kitchenaid Pasta Press. But! Be sure to use the provided plastic wrench when pushing the dough in the extruder. I made the mistake of using a wooden spoon, and it got stuck in the auger and ruined the press. VERY expensive boo boo!

Thank you for having a recipe with Durum semolina! Apparently the KitchenAid Pasta Press recipe for Extruded pasta is the same as the one for pasta roller. Hence the dough can get stuck with their recipe!

Using Durum semolina definitely helps with this! Also, really keeping an eye on the moisture content of your dough is important. If it's too dry, it will strain the machine too much and come out really slowly. If it is too moist, it will get stuck in the machine. Best of luck! Let us know how it goes - Lia

Isn't much of your work to create the dough something that the KitchenAid mixer was specifically designed for?

Pasta dough tend to be quite tough and the machine may struggle if you make a big batch. Also it doesn't really need much kneading, just to incorporate all the ingredients.
