If you decide to switch to interlocking, you might want to apply the 2 point rotation. The only reason I say this is, you are always saying you want thicker locs. The 4 point rotation will give you a tighter/smaller loc. I am an interlocker and I love it. I use the 4 point rotation but I want smaller locs. Just an FYI.

I interloc and I use the 2 point rotation because it's not so compact and it fills out. That way my locs look the same throughout. Don't do it to tight or to close to the scalp because it will cause weak spaces, holes, thinning.

I’m 15months loc’d and I initially started with palm rolling because I wanted thicker locs. But I also workout often and my palm rolling never lasted so I switched to interlocking around 6-7 months in my journey and do a 2 point rotation. It’s a difference bt my locs have stayed the same size just a bit more compact and I love that I can wash my hair weekly without issues!

I currently have sisterlocks and retighten every six weeks. If you wait too long you weaken your hair with sisterlocks because of the small root base. It will also take forever to retighten. When I had traditional locs, after 3 years of palm rolling I switched to interlocking (2 pt.) because I exercise and it was a God send. I kept the neat appearance that works for me. Again, no thinning, no difference on the lock pattern as they matured, etc. People get locs and get overly concerned. Basically what messes your hair up loose messes it up locked: unnecessary chemicals, poor diet, lack of hydration, pulling your hair too tight, over manipulation, excess heat. We should expect our hair to flourish just like any other hair that is well cared for. We also shouldn't spend excess amounts of time worrying about anything, including our hair because that's likely why that person's hair is thinning 😂.

I started my locs with two strand twists and have been maintaining with interlocking since the beginning. I tried palm rolling once and it lasted 3 days 😂 so I’m sticking to interlocking. For the first 3 months of my starter locs I interlocked every month. I feel like my hair was growing at such a rapid pace (or slippage). Now I do every 2 months.

I have interlocked throughout my hair after palm roll but I mainly palm roll and only interlock the perimeter now.....You can definitely tell the difference because it is going to be skinnier in that area because it is more compact. I prob will never interlock my whole head again because my locks are already thin but will continue doing the perimeter. I use a crochet latch and do only a 2 point rotation so it wont be too skinny.

I probably interlocked my hair 2 times throughout my 6 year loc journey. To me, the hair just does not fall naturally when I do so and honestly I'm okay with not retwisting... if too much of my loose hairs start to come out of the loc, I just wrap the hairs around itself

On my second set of locs. They're thicker than the first set. I interlocked after palm rolling about once or twice within 2 months. My hair is soft and unravels sometimes thats why I interlocked. But does anyone know if the interlocked parts of the dread thicken overtime? I dont have thin locks i have about 85-90 of them. I need advice guys. I have a little under 500 braidlocs which I started a few months ago. I've interlocked my hair 3 times, myself. On quite a number of locks, even the bigger ones, the interlocked new growth will end up being super skinny compared to the actual lock. Is that normal? Is that skinny part gonna expand? Am I retying it too tight? Are those locs gonna snap off. It's happened with the 2nd, 3rd and 4th rotation. I'm getting kinda nervous.

Now I self maintain them (been like 4 months) and I palm roll. Can you make a video about confidence with starter/shorter locs? lol today at work I’d exudes to wear a wig because the air is cold in Miami and my hair was feeling dry. I love my locs so much. Today my boss told me “oh I love your hair today. It looks way better than the little stickies.” I wasn’t offended because I couldn’t care less about people’s opinion on MY hair. But I know it’s hard for other people, females specifically, may feel uncomfortable with shorter locs.
