Great video thanks Erica. If your interested I use my small 2oz Tins without a wick as sniff testers. It works pretty well (except when people ask how to use it without a wick 🤣) but I explain it's just a sniff tester 😁.

I purchased a power inverter and powered it with a Marine battery. I charge the battery when I get home. Then I would hook up a 18-20” fan. People would come into my booth because it was cool and end up buying! Something to consider. Walmart was cheapest on inverter. But looks like you had power, girl, set up fans!

This year was the first time I went to a farmers market, and it is true, I realize people are not looking for candles during the hot months. I learned the hard way. But it is nice to hear it from someone who has been in the business longer than me.

Hi there, great videos and the transparency is a breath of fresh air. A few thoughts on some items that you mentioned one being that your old set-up looked less full, you could create a faux illusion that your booth is next level full with your branded boxes or cloth bags using just empty boxes or fluffy bags, you could have a back drop full of empty candle boxes and bags and to a customer subconsciously they see a display full of product. People instinctively buy more when they assume there is more available, and even more when they assume supply may become limited. Secondly related to supply being limited every retailer uses some form of sale to draw folks in the door from Barneys to Safeway as well as to turn slow moving product. Candles dont necessary have a expiration date but they could have a best when used by date. They can also have a born on date, from what I remember Budweiser was the first to use this as an added marketing feature. Finally , similar to McDonalds one of the biggest assets on their balance sheet is the land-property value, so similarly you can analyze your business at the booth events not only from revenue at the event, but in memberships gained, social media subscriptions, likes, or follows gained at events on the spot, or tell a friend promises. For example if a customer enters for a membership and follows MBCC social media on the spot they get 10% off that rack. And that rack happens to be slow movers anyway. I believe RONCO was the first to use a tell a friend promise to receive a discount and now that can be done instantly on social media and it costs the customer nothing. Cheers

The summer months can definitely be hot. We only use the back panel and not all 3 sides. We also invested in a fan that we can charge before the events. Some of my best pops happen during the summer and we always bring in 4 figures 😊

Do you keep your website pricing the same at vendor events? We do something similar to you where we offer “free shipping” that’s built into the price of the products, but it feels weird keeping that pricing at events. How do you handle that?

Before bringing down your market prices vs shipping items... don't forget to take into account how much the event costs, gas to go to and from, materials you need to purchase, bags to put candles in, your meals, etc.

Did you get your email QR code through Shopify? I love the idea of not using a sign up sheet.

No I created a landing page through my taplink account and got a QR code generated for free for that page. When they sign up it collects the emails in the “leads” section of my taplink account and then I just manually add them to my “local customers” email list on Klaviyo :)

How many candles in each scent would you say is a safe number to bring to market ?

There’s definitely no safe number, every event is wildly different! We usually bring anywhere from 5-8 candles per scent. Typically more towards 5 because our events are smaller
