We had a lot of fun checking out one of our favorite gem materials. We're curious - Did you prefer the huge cut stones or the rough specimens?

The rough specimens always speak to me! But I do enjoy a cut stone at times!

Probably rough as it feels somehow like the natural beauty at its finest but there are some amazing cut stones, so let's be honest - both are amazing haha

I like them faceted, preferably by Egor Gavrilenko or Arek Mazul. The cut is everything with sphalerite. Only through a perfect cut the stone gets its typical life

I like them both. They are beautiful as gems, but more interesting as rough specimens. Thank you for sharing, it is a treat every time an episode shows up in my flow!

I appreciate both of your choices. They would have been mine too. The green one for the same reasons, color and cut. The fossilized shells are so unusual for most of us non-lapidaries or gemologists. I would love to see them incorporated into jewelry, either a pendant or earrings of some kind. To the young male presenter. I have styled men professionally for many years. While I am old, I still remain aware of the current trends. While I doubt that your appearances on this vlog pays all of your bills, it does give you excellent visibility. Remember, what goes onto the internet, stays there forever, cached in some form or other. Always present your best efforts by which the future will judge you. Many people who are not comfortable with their own styling abilities consult a personal stylist or groomer, like the guys on Queer Eye, just to name one of many. It could be your hair stylist or a friend whose personal style you admire. It could be a sales person where you buy your nicer clothes or a family member with great personal style. You've grown your hair out, now you must style it properly. I'm not suggesting that you look like you're on your way to the prom, just that you always put your best foot forward. Try to imagine what you would wear on a first date or to a job interview or to a sit down restaurant. You are both very bright young people with equally bright futures and I love your unboxing episodes. Keep up the good work.

It was amazing to see such large sphalerite gems since they have a dispersion 3 times higher than that of a diamond. But I do love the raw pieces that I collected from the Sterling Hill mine last year. Not having a clue ..I just picked what I liked. And I loved the high energy of sphalerite. Sphalerite also will flouresce..mine was purple 💜 which my mentor said was the orange and blue combining. And he has given me many ancient fossils so I really loved those sphalerite covered fossils.. First time on your channel ...really fascinating to see a segment on an unusual crystal 👍

Ever since I've stumbled upon a specimen from an unfortunate estate, sphalerite has been one of my most treasured gems. I've got a piece of metallic, cola-colored crystals perched on my shelf right now. One of these days I will bring myself to facet it. When I do, success or failure, I'm sure I'll record the process and put it up on my channel. Wonderful pieces in your collection, as always!

I was getting nervous until you brought out the Elmwood mine piece. I have one from there with fluorite & calcite. I didn't recognize the burnt orange color until now! Thought it was metallic! Cool!

Great video as always, I was so pleasantly surprised to find how many budget friendly sphalerite specimens are available. Also that so much here in Australia (but our land is so ancient and mineral rich, I'm always more surprised when minerals/gems *aren't* found here).

I bought a gorgeous one in Tucson 2022. The facets on it were so special. It’s a rich deep reddish/brown. I set it in 18k gold for a pendant. Just waiting for the right owner to come along. ✨

It is a beautiful gem but my all-time favourite is still Ammolite with it's rainbow colouring, in part because the gem-quality specimens only come from my neck of the woods! 😊

Love Sphalerite! I have a chunk on matrix that weighs about 5 pounds! The piece is also covered with triangular Pyrite crystals. When I got it, I noticed a "shine" to it... After checking it out with a loupe, I realized it was absolutely covered with TINY Pyrite cubes... I mean THOUSANDS of em!!! One of my favorite pieces in my mineral collection. Side note..... I only gave $5.00 for it!

YESSSSS!!! My favorite gemstone. It's very fun. Mega rare stones aside, S. has the highest dispersion in nature! And it has probably mega boosted three out of five chemical processes that started life on Earth! Look this research up. Small Suns! It's very soft, gotta be treated with care just like fluorite.
