Interesting year, first of 50% silver, the first alloy was 50% silver 40% copper and 10% nickel which whitened the coin. Wear made it a mouldy green colour. There are two types of 1920, big head and small head. Neither are rare and its about 50/50 basically where the I in DEI points is which one you have - between teeth or at a tooth. Numbers of these coins were high and would remain so until 1923 as the old sterling coins were forced out. It was all an overeaction as silver prices crashed after 1919, although not to prewar levels and it meant that between 1920 and 1946, one of these coins had an intristic value of only 9d (1934 - 1939) to 1/5 (1920, 1939 -1941) and then 1/3 afterwards as the USA loant millions of tonnes of silver to the UK to mint these coins. By 1950 the silver loan was repaid, with coins going to cupronickel. I have both types, but like most of 1920 coins, they are complete worn rubbish in VG - Fine condition), which contrasts with all my 1919 coins (EF or AU) and 1921 coins (At least VF).
