"What have you seen in other candidates that help them stand out?" Such a fire question that I legit said out loud omg that's such a good question. Good work Julia!

thank you for making this video, Julia! can you also share how to maintain relationships with coffee chat mentors🥺I feel sometimes it's hard to stay in touch with them, especially the ones I've chatted once with for 30 minutes, but I also understand some designers don't necessarily want to mentor just one person long-term. Just curious about your thoughts! Thanks :)

Thank you for your response! I toooootally get you; this is a great question. Sometimes it can feel forced, but setting yourself up for success depends on what the initial coffee chat was about. Here are some ideas and things I did myself that worked out great: > Maybe your first chat was focused on a portfolio review-during the end of your call, maybe say something like, "would you be open to giving feedback once I make these improvements?" and scheduling your next coffee chat then and there > Maybe you really vibe with them and are genuinely interested in mentorship-you can end your meeting by being upfront and asking if they are open to mentorship/have recommendations for people that are interested in them > Maybe you have more questions after your initial chat and want to have a follow-up meeting-this is as way to slowly but surely transition your meetings from one-off to at least 2! I hope these help, and let me know if you have any more questions!
