@kathleenclark58773 жыл бұрын
This is the sort of decorating that embraces people’s collections: things they have acquired along the way that reflect their tastes and their lives. That whole minimalist dentist office look from my point of view is cooooold. The gallery wall with a collection of beloved prints or photographs or whatever is so warm and inviting. I like to be able to enter a person’s house and look at his/her/their taste(s). This is their living space. One would hope that they “live” there as opposed to exist there or use the home as somewhere to drop off their luggage. I have a number of different like things that I have collected. I just “finished” (well, really does that ever really happen?) a print collection in my living room of a series of moments from “The Lady of Shalott” poem by Alfred, Lord Tennyson. I am a retired English teacher ... who knew? I am so pleased with the effect. Plus other collections dotted around the house. The effect for me is wraparound warmth and a reflection of who I am and my taste. So, I am so,glad the pendulum has swung, as it inevitably should, back to scoochy furniture with layered patterned pillows and books and WALLPAPER! So love this vlog and affirms the fact that despite the fact that I am old as dirt, I am ahead of the trend ... by a decade or so. Oh, and a colleague and his wife who are now my best friends in retirement and increasing debilitation will not allow me to change my former “study/library” which is wallpapered and chintzed within an inch of its life (and which I did ... gah ... in the eighties). Again the pendulum element. So I looove this trend that you have discussed in this vlog. I feel personally vindicated! And , keep up the good work! Thanks so much.

In this past year of uncertainty and isolation, the cottage looks surrounds us with comfort and coziness. The look is a big "embrace" when we need it most. Ha! I was thinking about grabbing a kerchief for my head when I went out to do some gardening today! I wore them all the time as a teenager in the 70s. Love that homey, relaxed look. Those pictures are just like the ones I've been seeing in my English Home magazines these past few years. Very sweet. I have a little of it going on here and there.

This has been my favorite decor since the early 90s. I have not changed much about my home since then, if you wait long enough it will come back in style. I’m so excited it has! All of a sudden my old house is on point. LOL Thanks for sharing this. Even some in the 80s, my style is not as full, but much more full then minimalist decor. Also I bring a lot more of the outside in. It’s like you said very feminine.

Hi Sarah...I am so happy to see this design aesthetic making its way back....I live on a farm so obvious love that look but not the new farmhouse look ...I like the real farmhouse look....not fussy. All my guests feel comfortable flipping off their shoes and lounging on the sofa or on the back porch....they say I love how homey your home is.....to me best compliment ever❣️ I have always decorated with things that are meaningful to me. I started added boho about 5 years ago bc we have horses hence a lot of horse decor and boho blends well.....I like the layered in over time look. I don’t like clutter but I tend to be a maximalist in my decor......all,I’m hearing about is green....maybe it’s one way to get the outdoors feel inside. Thank you for sharing 😊kim

I know! I’ve always found it humorous with the farmhouse look bares very little resemblance to the reality of what an authentic farmhouse looks like. I grew up on a farm in a farming community and people don’t live in stark white living spaces. They’re cozy and collected. Scuffed paint. Welcoming.

Grew up in a home like this: but my mom sourced her “style” from rummage sales, second hand shops and throw away bins. Lol

I just realized that I am cutting edge for once. My house is already cluttered with unique stuff like this. I might be able to finally do some wallpaper, which I have always loved. I love the style. It’s me!

This is my style!! I have struggled with trying to tone it down over the years, I’m so happy to see it come around again. Quilts and books and family photos etc surrounding us all with love!! It has a lived in/homely feel 🥰

I knew if I left my Waverly cabbage rose valances in my kitchen long enough they would be stylish again! My house is a blend of cottage/oriental.

I’ve always had this look! My mother too! I’ve never been able to get away from it, and everyone has always loved it, and always want me to decorate their homes.

I love cottage core and didn’t really know i was doing it till it was deemed a ‘trend’. Some out of necessity for thrifted furniture, some stemming and evolving from my love of shabby chic. I’d say im more french cottage than full cottage core, no wallpaper bit add chandeliers!

I've always loved this style, shabby & chippy, vintage, cosy, romantic and natural. Love everything about it.

Love it and happy it’s coming back. I always have my room specifically with that kind of “warm huggable feel” I love so much.

Also-my style encompasses an eclectic French/transitional/cottage/“antiquie” aesthetic. I feel like I’ve been set free! Blessed with the privilege of being myself. (Didn’t need the blessing for that but I feel validated) Yaaay!!Loaded bookshelves!!! Color!! Real life is back!

Hmmm this is so interesting to me! I’m definitely half there. Wildflowers all the way. Messy stuff everywhere, not so much.

I've always been a mix of farmhouse and cottage. I just love the simple life and the beautiful nature God gave us!!! I love thrifting for old treasures more than buying new things. I love woods, linens, lace, flowers, and touches of color here and there. Oh, and lots of books 🥰🥰🥰 Cottagecore is my cup of tea literally 😂💗
