I too have lots of color on my walls. At the moment I’m trying to decide what to paint my pantry. I also have leather bound books and lots of self made crafts scattered around the place. Minimalism never appealed to me. I don’t like clutter either though. There’s a fine line between cozy and charming and just plain cluttered. It’s all in the display I think.

@@kathleenclark5877 I know right?! It was the first store I went to on my rare visits to the mall. I can remember saving up for months to purchase one of her dresses! I found the LA outlet store in Florida where I was living at the time and made regular pilgrimages there. I found a hole-in-the-wall fabric outlet in North Carolina that sold her mill end fabrics and made all kinds of home decor that I could have never afforded from her store. A few years ago I completely redecorated in a coastal style, but lately I've been adding things to achieve more of a "coastal cottage" style, and I'm loving it! Recently a friend visited who I haven't seen in a long time, and she gasped when she walked in to my home and raved about what she saw. She said my house made her feel as though someone was giving her a big, cozy HUG! For me that is the highest compliment, made my day!

This is the sort of decorating that embraces people’s collections: things they have acquired along the way that reflect their tastes and their lives. That whole minimalist dentist office look from my point of view is cooooold. The gallery wall with a collection of beloved prints or photographs or whatever is so warm and inviting. I like to be able to enter a person’s house and look at his/her/their taste(s). This is their living space. One would hope that they “live” there as opposed to exist there or use the home as somewhere to drop off their luggage. I have a number of different like things that I have collected. I just “finished” (well, really does that ever really happen?) a print collection in my living room of a series of moments from “The Lady of Shalott” poem by Alfred, Lord Tennyson. I am a retired English teacher ... who knew? I am so pleased with the effect. Plus other collections dotted around the house. The effect for me is wraparound warmth and a reflection of who I am and my taste. So, I am so,glad the pendulum has swung, as it inevitably should, back to scoochy furniture with layered patterned pillows and books and WALLPAPER! So love this vlog and affirms the fact that despite the fact that I am old as dirt, I am ahead of the trend ... by a decade or so. Oh, and a colleague and his wife who are now my best friends in retirement and increasing debilitation will not allow me to change my former “study/library” which is wallpapered and chintzed within an inch of its life (and which I did ... gah ... in the eighties). Again the pendulum element. So I looove this trend that you have discussed in this vlog. I feel personally vindicated! And , keep up the good work! Thanks so much.

@@MarzannaMorana I don't think it is the same as shabby chic. I have always had a cottage style decor, but I am not into the shabby ness of shabby chic. We only have one life to live and our home should reflect us. I live in a house that was built in 1911. It looks like a farmhouse, we have lived here twenty years. On the back end the previous owner had a porch converted to a kitchen with the dining on the other end with windows all around. I had it painted green (I call it granny green). We are surrounded by a wooden area in the back, it brings the outside indoors. I have never regretted the color I chose.

In this past year of uncertainty and isolation, the cottage looks surrounds us with comfort and coziness. The look is a big "embrace" when we need it most. It can be as cluttered as one is comfortable with, or as simple as one would like, and the simplicity of the style is so beckoning at every turn. And, so affordable too, as many things can be thrifted or repurposed for decor. Loving it! More please.

This actually reminds me of an old school bohemian simplistic cozy vibe and I am here for it. I am all about the colors, wood elements, and (personally) adding in jewel tones for even more pop.

I'm 74 yrs old and this is my style. I'm glad it's back. I totally embrace everything about it except the puffy sleeves. They look awful on me, but yeah I'm all about "messy" comfortable living.

So funny! I look absolutely ridiculous in puff sleeves, too. But I totally embrace linen everything and small print florals. 😊

This has always been me. Happy to see a move away from gray/cold/minimalism. I am thinking that now I don’t have to reupholster my antique sofa with the chintz linen floral! Homes are homey once more. Yaaayyy!

Well great, I always knew I was well ahead of the curve! 💚😀 This has always been my "look" creative, curated cottage. I love color- but toned down. Lot's of mix & match & tons of vintage. This makes perfect sense to my aesthetic indoors & out.💙♥️💚

Ha! I was thinking about grabbing a kerchief for my head when I went out to do some gardening today! I wore them all the time as a teenager in the 70s. Love that homey, relaxed look. Those pictures are just like the ones I've been seeing in my English Home magazines these past few years. Very sweet. I have a little of it going on here and there.

This has been my favorite decor since the early 90s. I have not changed much about my home since then, if you wait long enough it will come back in style. I’m so excited it has! All of a sudden my old house is on point. LOL Thanks for sharing this. Even some in the 80s, my style is not as full, but much more full then minimalist decor. Also I bring a lot more of the outside in. It’s like you said very feminine.

Hi Sarah...I am so happy to see this design aesthetic making its way back....I live on a farm so obvious love that look but not the new farmhouse look ...I like the real farmhouse look....not fussy. All my guests feel comfortable flipping off their shoes and lounging on the sofa or on the back porch....they say I love how homey your home is.....to me best compliment ever❣️ I have always decorated with things that are meaningful to me. I started added boho about 5 years ago bc we have horses hence a lot of horse decor and boho blends well.....I like the layered in over time look. I don’t like clutter but I tend to be a maximalist in my decor......all,I’m hearing about is green....maybe it’s one way to get the outdoors feel inside. Thank you for sharing 😊kim

I know! I’ve always found it humorous with the farmhouse look bares very little resemblance to the reality of what an authentic farmhouse looks like. I grew up on a farm in a farming community and people don’t live in stark white living spaces. They’re cozy and collected. Scuffed paint. Welcoming.

I love cottage core and didn’t really know i was doing it till it was deemed a ‘trend’. Some out of necessity for thrifted furniture, some stemming and evolving from my love of shabby chic. I’d say im more french cottage than full cottage core, no wallpaper bit add chandeliers!

I love woods, linens, lace, flowers, and touches of color here and there. Oh, and lots of books 🥰🥰🥰 Cottagecore is my cup of tea literally 😂💗
