I have really enjoyed the first two episodes! I have found them very educational, as I am currently contemplating a career in court reporting. Can't wait for more episodes in your court reporting series.

Same here! I want to make sure I'm making the right moves into this career so thank you Chloe for making this series! I live in a state where schooling is not required so it seems like a vast ocean at this point.

Thank you for the video!! I loved watching you write. Steno really needs to be talked about more. Now there is quite a hobbyist scene for steno because of the Plover software. It lowers the barrier to entry so so much.

How long does it take to commit all of this to muscle memory? It's like learning a different language and translating in real time, while also playing the piano. Pretty incredible!

Hi Ms. Salazar, I just want to tell you what a blessing your videos have been for me. I had an accident a few years ago, fell down the stairs and ended up with brain trauma that left me unable to use my eyes properly. Healing has been a slow process but the worst part was how few job options they offered me as a possibility going forward. I just couldn’t accept struggling through with minimum wage forever as an answer and through much searching came across your wonderful series. You’ve given me hope for a great job I can do with confidence and a bright future once again. I’m already starting to stash away money to get a steno machine of my own and I can’t wait for the day to arrive! Thank you again and wishing you all the very best! -May Hill

That is NUTS! Now that you know how to do this, do you type in steno in your daily life like with emails or anything like that ? I wish I had this skill because it's like a key to the fastest possible way to type.

Watching you type -FPLT amused me. Like it was the default action you didn't think about, you just did it. What theory did you learn (My own uses -FPLT as well) and have you had any experience looking into Plover and how do you feel about it opening the door to amateurs learning Steno on basic hardware and with open source software/theories?

Wow! The idea of stenography machine blows my mind! Thanks a lot for sharing the experience, try showing the actual documents after typing to just give an idea of how it looks.

So after you graduate you have to own your own machine I assume but when you are employed you have to use your own machine as well or do courts provide any?

What are your thoughts on voice recording or digital recording vs steno? Are they both in as much demand or not as much as steno? I am looking at steno as a second (later in life) career but concerned with the time it will take to get through the schooling. Thanks!

Do you have any tips on how to finish steno school faster? like not rushing, but avoiding going for like 9 years or something crazy.
@thechloesalazar Жыл бұрын
Yes! Practice. I know that sounds basic, but that’s what I did to get out quickly. Every day after class I did about one to two hours, so nothing crazy, but I did that every day except Sunday. I made sure I put it first! Also practice speeds higher than your class. Always end practice clean so go down speeds again. Hope this helps! Good luck 🫶🏼

Any suggestions of where I can get a machine I’m looking to start court reporting soon but they are so expensive 😢
@thechloesalazar Жыл бұрын
I know they are so expensive! Honestly I got my first one from a seasoned reporter who had an extra. So it was used and worked well for me for years! They last a long time. They also have programs for students with machines, depending on where you attend. So either reach out to a current reporter or look inside the programs. Hope that helped!

Hi I appreciate this video so much since I'm starting in August. Do you have any recommendations on a laptop for school as in does it have to have a lot of storage or any specs that would be good to look at when getting one for the court reporting program? Thank you !
