All About The Vlamingi Tang or Big Nose Unicornfish

The Naso Vlamingi is one of the largest tangs you can get for your home aquarium. Growing to a whopping two feet long! As a juvenile they really do not have as great of colors. Mostly grey, but as an adult they grow really pretty blue dots all over their bodies!

My Vlamingi only seems to eat seaweed; he won't eat the flakes I provide. I give him about a 2"x3" piece on a clip and he DEVOURS it. Wondering how many times per day I should feed him. Not sure if 1x is enough. Any thoughts?

Hey Brock! I have an established reef tank, 32 biocube with many designer zoas and ricordea. I thought it would be fun to by a pistol shrimp to pair with my Goby. I had no idea what I was getting into. My pistol shrimp is CONSTANTLY remodeling my sand, and I’ve been trying to protect my ricordea, but he keeps trying to drag them into his den. Thoughts? Can he be removed without removing rock structure.

I’ve always been a little paranoid about glueing my frags myself.. I’ve heard horror stories about the stuff you apply underwater drying super fast and getting everywhere, what method & product would you recommend ? I’ve always been worried I’d poison my tank... dumb I know

Zachary Scott It’s better to be safe than sorry my friend. We use holdfast from instant ocean and coral glue from eco tech. If there’s any way to put them on a heavy frag so that he cant move it.

charlie jenkins First thing to do is determine if your tank is big enough to house two tangs. Then you’ll want to match them up so that they are not aggressive toward eachother.

A Vlamingi tang will get WAYYYYYY too big for a 180 gallon aquarium, bare minimum would be a 350-400 gallon aquarium
