Acanthurus lineatus is my favorite Acanthuridae ❤. Strong personality and amazing colors ❤. Greetings from Italy 🇮🇹.
@australianaquarist Жыл бұрын
There’s no doubt they are beautiful fish. If I had to only keep convicts or a clown, I’d definitely keep the lineatus. Still, for the vast majority of aquarists, the convict is the better choice

Another great video mate! your a wealth of knowledge, I always look forward to your videos, my favourite fish I had in my setup years ago was a Moon Wrasse, my son caught it as a larger fish and out of all the fish I had most of them purchased I loved it the most the way it swam around the tank with all it's colour and never seemed to bother the other fish, I look forward to your turtle video I use to keep and breed both long and short necks, they both have their ups and downs it will be interesting to see what others say, so I won't spoil it 🙂

Ahaaa Have you been stalking my computer files for future videos!? I also love Moon Wrasse and feel they get an undeserved bad rap. I’ll be setting up the Moon Wrasse and the Gaimard Wrasse in a future showdown!

@@australianaquarist Cool! I was just surprised with the cool fish I have been seeing on your videos I haven't seen one yet, yes I think they are a bit under rated, I had mine for a few years and it was really tame, it used to follow me up and down the tank, they would also have to have one of the nicest colour combinations, you really have me thinking of another marine tank, I have a 5ft x 2ft x 3ft in my room I'm setting up that I could use, this is why I'm taking my time with it, I'm not sure what I want to do yet, I was thinking South American blackwater but it is a hard decision being that we live so close to the ocean.

@@australianaquarist Thanks mate! I just hope my back holds out, that is my biggest worry on one of these, I hope we get to see some cool stuff, I'm really sorry I'm going to miss you up here, I'll have to come down sometime.

@australianbiotopes4563 I’ll be leaning on you for ideas when I renovate what is currently my reef tank, take it outside for a strip down and rebuild. I’ve got an amazing piece of buttress wood that’s giving me ideas for a fnq swamp. Just need to pick your brains aboutvwater temp, as I don’t really want to heat it

@@australianaquarist hi mate , i am in this hobby since 2014 , now at present am having a 6 foot fowlr tank , i have just recently sold my clown tang to a friend of mine as it was a pain in the ass for all the other tank mates so so aggressive . i am having tangs , yellow foxface and guess what my new shipment just arrived at the airport just now am awaiting outside the cargo lane for it , so much excited. Dude just please help me out in future if i need any valuable suggestions from you in this hobby. sorry for my long message. 😄oh BTW i have a convict tang also included in my shipment today , and i got so much confidence going through ur video . Thanks once again mate.

@dobbiesnuffy I’m always happy to talk fish with you. The convict tang may need some special alone time to get feeding properly. I’ve only ever caught them myself locally, but as small juvis , they can have a habit of wasting away. A bit bigger, and I’ve found them strong. I imagine though , if they are shipped, they could be a bit delicate.
@australianaquarist3 ай бұрын
I’m not sure where you live, but if you have access to some algae covered rocks from the beach, I would go and collect some. That would do a lot, if the convict is a bit delicate

@@australianaquarist thank u so much for the replies mate , i really do appreciate it for ur precious time . i am from the north eastern part of INDIA , here we dont have sea only big himalayan mountains lol . i have to pay really xtra bucks for the shipments specially . Hey i brought my shipment just two hours before and hopefully they all look good as of now but am facing a problem my existing Dussumier's tang which is around 5.5 inch really bullying all the newcomers in the tank , chasing and all stuff . can u suggest me what shall i do to reduce the aggression?? i even tried feeding it nori to make it calm down a lil . BTW U are so lucky that u are from BEAUTIFUL AUSTRALIA , a heavens paradise for reefers. i just love Australia so much, have been to new zeeland but not Australia. ❤️❤️. Here in my place supplies are very less and very much expensive. i paid 17$ USD FOR THE CONVICT TANG , size is around 3.5 inch healthy looking . Lastly Thank u so much again. 👍🏻

I have one convict in my 310 and it's cool to watch him swim with the rest of my fish.

Yeah They are a very easy going tang for community tanks. I was watching my 3 a day ago, doing what looked like spawning behaviour. Very cool

Had a clown tang 3:21 for 13 years, just wear heavy rubber gloves when cleaning the tank, he starts doing laps around the tank, he will bite and his bristle teeth hurt . 2:28

That’s awesome! How large did it grow over the 13 years? Did it get past 12 inches?

Hi Jonathan I think you’re referring to my old mixed reef tank? It was a 7 x 4 x 2 ft high peninsula tank
@thyressya17486 ай бұрын
what size would you recomment for a convict tang? since you said they only get around 15 cm, would it be okey in a 300l for a few years?
@australianaquarist6 ай бұрын
Yeah. I’d like to see one in a 4ft tank, but I’d say a 3ft, especially a 3x2x2, woukd be ok for a while. They grow slower than other surgeonfish I’ve kept, and aren’t as manic as other tangs, like the clown, blue or orange shoulder.

Hey mate are you from coffs i am and what rock pools did you find the clown tang.
@australianaquarist11 ай бұрын
Yes I am! I found it in a Rockpool at Minnie Water. I have seen them occasionally whilst snorkeling- once in Boambee Creek, once at Minnie Water and once at Sandy Beach, however only one individual at a time. Except that brilliant , dry season we had about 4 years ago, when there was quite a few along the north wall leading up to muttonbird.
